Kidspace Library Clerk/PT

Windsor Public Library The Windsor Public Library is seeking a knowledgeable, tech-savvy part-time library clerk with a strong commitment to serving children and their caregivers to join our Kidspace team. Responsibilities include reference, reader’s advisory and computer assistance at the busy Kidspace desk; shelving and shelf-reading of materials and additional projects as needed. Library Media Specialist

Hamden Hall is looking for a Library Media Specialist to join our Library/Technology department. The position is responsible for working directly with the students and providing support for teachers in all grade levels. User Engagement Librarian

Trinity College Information Services seeks a dynamic, creative, collaborative and forward-thinking User Engagement Librarian to join the Research Services team in the library. Reporting to the Director of Research Services and Collections the successful candidate will be an active participant in the work of the team, and will serve as a liaison to faculty in an academic department, build subject-specific collections, provide general and specialized information research assistance; and deliver information literacy instruction. The successful candidate will create a new user engagement program for the library, and in that role will lead efforts to study and define the information needs of students, faculty and staff at Trinity College. The incumbent will bring that knowledge back to staff across IS and help them translate that knowledge into excellent services, collections and spaces that will delight the Trinity community. The User Engagement Librarian will design a two-way communication strategy that will facilitate continuous feedback from Trinity constituents, and help staff to communicate out to the community to promote collections, services and spaces. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, customer-service oriented, and be adaptable to the needs of a changing information environment. Duties: Regularly teach classes as part of the library’s information literacy program, and provide one-on-one consultations. Serve as a liaison to designated academic departments and/or programs. Use a variety of methods to study user needs, such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, participatory design and usability testing. Inventory those needs and the services offered by the newly merged library and IT organization. Identify gaps in service and other opportunities for improvements. Collaborate with staff to design new services or tailor existing services to user needs. In particular help a newly merged Library IT organization to streamline services in a way that makes sense for users. Design and coordinate an effective communication strategy, and help staff to develop marketing material online and in print. In this capacity manage the library’s social media and web presence. Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent education and experience (MS,MIS, MFA, or MA).  Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic librarianship. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Evidence of successful collaboration. Demonstrated ability to effectively use a variety of new technology communication methods. Experience with one or more: surveys, focus groups, usability testing and interviews.   Curiosity about and comfortable with new technologies. Young Adult Librarian

The New Milford Public Library seeks an innovative Young Adult Librarian who enjoys working with children and young people, as well as their parents and teachers. Excellent communication skills, media skills and a strong public service orientation are a must.  The Young Adult Librarian is responsible for YA programming; collection development of YA and Teen (grades 6 -12) materials; some children’s programming; and acts as an assistant to the Children’s Services Librarian. Archives Assistant

Choate Rosemary Hall School The Archives Assistant works under the direction of the Archivist to insure that resources in the archives collection are appropriately labeled, indexed, stored, and preserved. Assists the Archivist to publicize and promote the history of Choate Rosemary Hall. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, academic year, non-benefits eligible position. Duties and responsibilities: 1. Promotes School History: Create actual and virtual displays using the appropriate software. Assists the Archivist with providing reference services to the Choate community and independent researchers. 2. Updates Archives' databases: Maintain the art inventory database and the binder of photographs of the school's art; Maintain the textile inventory database, including labeling, preserving, and indexing; Create and maintain an inventory/database of artifacts. 3. Organizes archival materials: Index new and past issues of The News, The Alumni Bulletin, and other serial publications. Maintain the picture file, including indexing, filing, labeling, and preservation activities. Process new acquisitions, including the search for redundant documents, applying the classification system, labeling, and preserving appropriately. 4. Information Technology Director

Great Neck Library This is a contract, confidential position that reports to the Executive Director of the Great Neck Library. Responsibilities: Report to the Executive Director and assists in the day-to-day technology operations of the Library. Participate in any renovation project, including attending construction and Building Advisory Committee meetings as needed. Assist in planning and procedures for instituting any new technology in the Main Library and Branches. Manages Technical Services, Computer Services and Website Services . Makes recommendations for technology improvements to the Executive Director. Manage the library catalog (Innovative Interface), LILink, Website, Financial software and other programs the library uses to insure they are functioning and up to date with version changes that meet the needs of the organization. Work closely and collaboratively with technical service staff, integrated library system vendor, application vendors and other partners to further the discovery, delivery, maintenance and preservation of Library and other data. Coordinate the installation, testing, customization, and ongoing configuration of Library systems software and related upgrades. Maintain the various online processes for integration of Library Services Platform data and external systems such as LILink, OCLC, WorldCat, etc. Will insure compliance with authorization policies and license agreements. Skills Required: Bachelor's degree in computer information science or closely related field or the equivalent practical experience. Five years of professional experience in all aspects of information technology. MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution required. Must have 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience. This individual will bring strong analytical, technical and troubleshooting skills in support of a complex array of library applications. Has strong commitment to system integrity, support and continuity of operations, actively coordinating and communicating with vendors and others in pursuit of problem resolution. Skills Preferred:  Demonstrated experience administering an Integrated Library System within a large scale library setting. Demonstrated knowledge of discovery tools and metadata practices supporting discovery, specifically in a library context. Knowledge of bibliographic record structure such as MARC, XML markup, etc. Technical knowledge of library services and supporting data (including Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloging and Electronic Resource management) Experience integrating third-party applications into library systems. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Experience with personnel issues preferred. Evergreen System Specialist

Bibliomation, Inc. (Waterbury, CT.) is Connecticut’s largest library consortium consisting of over 60 member libraries. Bibliomation libraries share materials and manage resources using the Evergreen open source integrated library system.  Bibliomation is seeking an Evergreen Systems Specialist to join the Evergreen support team. The Evergreen Systems Specialist will: report to the Evergreen Systems Manager, working closely to manage the Evergreen system which is operated using both Linux and Windows within a multi-server environment; assist in troubleshooting software issues by performing log analysis and error debugging; assist in technical tasks associated with backup and recovery activities; monitor system performance and adjusts operating systems and applications to avoid performance issues; install and test new Evergreen software patches and releases; make recommendations or modify existing system configurations based on member library needs; perform systems integration testing of various operating systems, databases, utilities and hardware upgrades .
