Adult Librarian - Canterbury Public Library

Adult Librarian - Canterbury Public Library is seeking a part-time (23 hours a week, $16.56/hr) adult and reference librarian. Monday-Thursday with occasional Saturdays. One week of vacation will be given after one year of employment.
     Responsibilities: Provide reference assistance, including providing patrons with assistance using the computers. Staffing the circulation desk and providing circulation duties. Overseeing adult and teen volunteers. Cataloging new and donated materials using RDA. Repairing damaged books. Facilitating book discussions and the adult summer reading program. 
     Required Qualifications: Library or customer service experience. Knowledge of and experience with cataloging and library systems. Excellent communication and human relations skills; flexibility in dealing with different environments. Comfortable and competent in an online environment. Excellent technology skills including Microsoft Office suite. Friendly, welcoming demeanor and ability to work well with a diverse patron group.
     Desired Qualifications: MLIS; experience with Verso; supervisory experience; knowledge in a coding language; experience with wix.com.

Library Assistant - The Janet Carlson Calvert Library in Franklin, CT has a welcoming and pleasing atmosphere. We are looking for a person to become a vital member of our team. The part-time, 12 hour position, has rotating Saturday, morning and evening hours. The Assistant will be expected to perform all duties that may occur in a small public library. Substitute Lending Services Assistant - The Farmington Libraries

Substitute Lending Services Assistant (two positions) - The Farmington Libraries are seeking two friendly, creative, customer service-oriented individuals to join our Lending Services team. Primary duties include efficiently processing incoming and outgoing library materials, issuing new library cards and updating existing patron account information, collecting fines for lost or late materials, answering phones and directing calls to appropriate departments, assisting patrons with renewing materials, and working with other lending team members to open and close the Library. Position includes Saturdays, evenings and other shifts as needed. There are no benefits associated with this position. Requirements: High school diploma, plus two years of college coursework or two years’ work experience in a customer service-oriented position, and experience working with computers. Public library experience preferred.

Library Assistant - Part Time – The Stonington Free Library

Library Assistant - Part Time – The Stonington Free Library seeks an enthusiastic and tech-savy team player with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to the importance of the library in the community. This is a part time position 21 to 24.5 hours per week. Work schedule is Tuesdays 9:30 to 2, Wednesdays 9:30 to 2, Thursdays 9:30 to 6, Fridays 9:30 to 1:30 and Saturday rotations 9:30 to 1. Hourly rate is $14.00. Benefits include sick, holiday and vacation days. 
     Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Delivery of excellent customer service to all ages. Assist patrons in person and over the phone. Introduce patrons to all library services, collections and technology. Provide reference services and reader’s advisory. Issue library cards. Check materials in and out. Help manage holds, overdue items and interlibrary loan requests and returns. Collect fines. Provide internet, email, copying, printing and other technology assistance. Update website, social media and community calendars.
     Successful candidate must be a team player with strong technology skills, positive attitude, enjoys working with the public, self-motivated, reliable, flexible and able to multi-task. High school diploma and technology skills required. Prior library experience, college degree and familiarity with library technology are a plus.

Part-time Library Assistant - Newtown’s C.H. Booth Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant with excellent customer service skills to serve the public. 15 weekly hours will include (but will not be limited to) Saturday shifts; ability to work added substitute or additional hours is desired. Position primarily serves to support the library’s circulation desks during programming events and during K-12 school breaks, so hours will vary. Starting hourly rate is $13.75. 
     Duties include: Materials shelving. Shelf reading. Circulation desk duty including checking in, renewing, and checking out materials. Answering incoming calls. placing outgoing calls. Assisting patrons in locating items and with computer issues. Assisting patrons with photocopying and printing. Library Assistant (LTA 1, part-time) – The Essex Library seeks a reliable person with excellent customer service skills to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 7 PM as well as occasional Saturdays. Substitute Circulation Assistant - West Hartford Libraries seeks customer service-oriented individual to join our service team as substitute circulation assistant. We are a busy community-oriented facility offering circulation services to adults, children and at both branch locations. Because this is a part-time substitute position, the right candidate will have a flexible schedule.
     Duties include: charging/ discharging materials; answering phones and routing calls; collecting fines; issuing cards; assisting patrons in the use of self-checkout stations; placing holds, and performing other duties as requested.
     Pay: Minimum $19.33 per hour, depending on experience. Hours will include days, nights and weekends. Sick leave is provided consistent with State of Connecticut Regulations, but there are no other benefits associated with this position.
     Ideal candidates will have a knowledge of the Sierra ILS along with basic circulation skills, including charging books in and out, data inputting, phone etiquette and the collection of fines.
     Desirable: fluency in a second language other than English.

Part-time Circulation Desk Clerk - non-exempt. Pequot Library, Southport. Job Summary: The circulation staff are those people with primary contact with visitors of all ages at Pequot Library. It is an essential part of their job that they project the warmth, helpfulness, and enthusiasm that is such an essential part of what makes Pequot Library such a unique and valued institution. They create an orderly and workable front desk environment that promotes overall materials circulation, program attendance, and membership growth. They will be requested to be available for some special events and programs as needed. The circulation staff reports to the Chief Librarian.
     Primary Responsibilities: Handle operations at the Front Desk to achieve efficiency and warmth associated with Pequot Library. Prepare circulation desk for opening and closing. Check books in and out, process holds, overdues, etc. and notify patrons when books arrive. Perform ready reference and readers’ advisory services by helping patrons find the right book or item. Responds to telephone inquiries promoting attendance at programs and use of services. Monitors public use of library facilities and assists patrons in location of library materials and use of technology (public computers, copying machine, printer). Responsible for displays as well as shelving material. Assist Children’s Librarian with youth services & youth programming. Perform other library and program tasks as assigned. Act as docent with rare book exhibitions and in The Perkin Gallery. Saturdays, Sundays, and occasional evenings required to manage special events/rentals. Other duties as needed.
     Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree required and some library experience, preferred. High overall level of computer proficiency. Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and promote membership growth. Ability and desire to serve the public of all ages. Knowledge of current/popular books for Readers’ Advisory. Ability to work as a team member. Flexibility, sense of humor. Availability for evenings and weekends.

Circulation Clerk - Bristol Public Library. Summary: Facilitates the use of library resources by performing varied clerical and customer-service oriented tasks. Charges and discharges materials, registers patrons, records statistics, processes holds, performs information searches, and instructs patrons. Keeps current with materials added to the library collection and makes recommendations to patrons. Performs all delinquent material functions. Assists throughout library. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
     Type/Schedule: Full-time position, working 37.50 hours per week. September through June, work Monday through Thursday, and alternate Fridays and Saturdays; for the months of July and August, work Monday through Friday.
     Qualifications: Requires Associate’s Degree with one (1) year general library experience OR High School graduate/GED with two (2) years library experience. Requires effective written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently. Computer skills that include intermediate knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Internet software; basic knowledge of Word Processing and Design software.
