Substitute Lending Services Assistant (two positions) - The Farmington Libraries are seeking two friendly, creative, customer service-oriented individuals to join our Lending Services team. Primary duties include efficiently processing incoming and outgoing library materials, issuing new library cards and updating existing patron account information, collecting fines for lost or late materials, answering phones and directing calls to appropriate departments, assisting patrons with renewing materials, and working with other lending team members to open and close the Library. Position includes Saturdays, evenings and other shifts as needed. There are no benefits associated with this position. TEMPORARY position: Library Aide II – Reference
Town of Canton. The Town of Canton is seeking a pleasant, customer-service-oriented self-starter to join the staff of the Canton Public Library as a part-time Reference Assistant. This is a TEMPORARY position, starting as soon as possible and with a term ending June 30, 2017. Responsibilities of the position include: staffing the reference desk; responding to reference and readers advisory queries in person and by phone; helping patrons use computers and other technology; assisting patrons with copier, library catalog, etc.; creating flyers, calendars, and other publicity materials; assisting with website updates and maintenance; creating displays; etc. The incumbent will also staff the circulation desk as needed performing basic circulation functions such as charging and discharging library materials; answering and routing phone calls; etc. Strong computer and technology skills, and ability to teach them to the public, are essential, as are a basic understanding of digital and print reference sources and ability to quickly learn new skills. Part-time Information Services Assistant
The Farmington Libraries are seeking a creative,
enthusiastic part-time Information Services Assistant, with a patron-centered
approach to library services and exemplary customer service skills to join our
fast-paced team-driven Information Services Department. The ideal candidate will
have a thorough knowledge of current library trends and emerging technologies, especially
those related to the maker movement, enthusiasm for teaching technology in both
one-on-one and in small group settings, as well as an interest in assisting
teens and adults with a variety of reference information requests ranging from reader’s
advisory inquiries and database research support to downloading e-books and
e-audiobooks to various mobile devices. Experience with basic troubleshooting
and maintenance of PC’s, iMac’s, and various tablet technologies a plus. The
