Weekend/Substitute Library Assistant - Acton Public Library, Old Saybrook

Weekend/Substitute Library Assistant - Acton Public Library, Old Saybrook. JOB SUMMARY: The Weekend/Substitute Library Assistant is a part-time position responsible for all library circulation desk functions, and selected reference desk functions. This includes: checking books out; processing reserve requests; shelving returned items; registering library borrowers; collecting fees and fines; assisting patrons with basic computer problems; answering ready reference questions; processing interlibrary loan requests; and other duties as assigned.
     SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Library Director or designee depending upon the area of assignment (Circulation, Reference or Children’s Department).
     SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
     WORK SCHEDULE: 7 – 11 hours per week, every Saturday with occasional Sunday. This position is considered part of our substitute pool, and availability/flexibility to work additional hours (up to 19) to provide coverage for vacations and sickness is essential.
     HOURLY RATE: $13.73/hour as of July 1, 2018.
     MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma, college experience desired. Computer skills required.
     EXPERIENCE: Library and/or customer service experience helpful.

Substitute Circulation Assistant - West Hartford Libraries seeks customer service-oriented individual to join our service team as substitute circulation assistant. We are a busy community-oriented facility offering circulation services to adults, children and at both branch locations. Because this is a part-time substitute position, the right candidate will have a flexible schedule.
     Duties include: charging/ discharging materials; answering phones and routing calls; collecting fines; issuing cards; assisting patrons in the use of self-checkout stations; placing holds, and performing other duties as requested.
     Pay: Minimum $19.33 per hour, depending on experience. Hours will include days, nights and weekends. Sick leave is provided consistent with State of Connecticut Regulations, but there are no other benefits associated with this position.
     Ideal candidates will have a knowledge of the Sierra ILS along with basic circulation skills, including charging books in and out, data inputting, phone etiquette and the collection of fines.

Substitute Adult Reference Librarian, Part-Time - Wilton Library is seeking a service-oriented, year-round, part-time, substitute adult reference librarian. Candidates must hold a Master of Library Science degree; MLS students nearing graduation will be considered. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and social media are required, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work well with other team members in a creative and vibrant environment. Schedule: 9 am to 5 pm every other Saturday. Flexibility to fill in for other librarians with short notice during the week/evenings/weekends. Salary: CLA minimum. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure is required. Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagrammatic or schedules form. Must be able to relate to patrons and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff is essential. Physical, Mental Exertion/Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in an open environment. Must be able concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruptions.
