     Under general supervision of the Librarian III, incumbent provides services to all ages to support the mission of educating and culturally enriching the community. Some of the duties of this position include overseeing library programs and services, responding to inquiries from the public, working cooperatively to offer special library services for the community, maintains library collection materials, and compiles reports. Providing instruction to other staff and the public in using online functions and digital technologies is also an essential responsibility.

Adult Services Librarian (Full-time) – Simsbury Public Library. We’re looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, creative, and self-directed librarian, who is team-oriented to join our Adult Services Department.      QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA accredited Master’s degree or its international equivalent. A strong service orientation. Relevant experience in providing reference services and library instruction in a print and online environment. Experience using an online integrated library system, preferably ExLibris Alma/Primo. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with all segments of the University community. Desired: Academic library experience. Substantial information literacy experience, and demonstrated ability to deliver information literacy to students in an effective and engaging manner. Strong technical skills including knowledge of presentation/authoring software. An additional advanced degree in a subject area.

Research and Instruction Librarian - Quinnipiac University

Research and Instruction Librarian - The Edward and Barbara Netter Library at Quinnipiac University seeks a dynamic, motivated and service-oriented librarian responsible for developing and delivering innovative information services in the health and basic sciences. The Research and Instruction Librarian supports and collaborates with faculty to integrate electronic information resources into the curriculum.      Job Summary: Connecticut College is conducting a national search for a creative, committed, curious and energetic Research Support and Outreach Librarian to join an outstanding team of librarians, instructional and information technology staff in the merged Information Services organization at Connecticut College. Connecticut College, located midway between New York City and Boston in the historic whaling city of New London, is a progressive and highly selective liberal arts college of some 1800 students and which is currently implementing its new and innovative Connections curriculum. The recently remodeled Charles E. Shain Library is a beautiful space and was named a 2016 New Landmark Library by the Library Journal.
     General Duties & Responsibilities: The Research Support and Outreach Librarian will work collaboratively with all departments in Information Services to connect its services and resources to College community members. She or he will play a key role on the social media working group, support social media activities for the department and use social media to communicate the value of Information Services. The librarian will expand and enhance library outreach to the community, which includes editing and publishing the biennial newsletter, annual reports, planning documents and other printed and digital marketing efforts. The librarian will assist, advise and instruct faculty and students in the access and use of scholarly information. He or she will collaborate with faculty and colleagues to initiate and develop activities to integrate research skills instruction into the curriculum and develop print or digital supporting materials and guides as needed. She or he will contribute to instruction sessions associated with the new Connections curriculum and provide general research instruction, as well as discipline-specific reference assistance to faculty and students within the departments. The librarian will also be responsible for serving as a liaison in assigned subject areas, and overseeing the library’s collections in those disciplines. The librarian will participate in the library’s Digital Scholarship (DS) program by participating on DS project teams, helping review and support proposals, and bringing his or her skills to bear on DS projects. As needed, she or he will manage special projects in support of the Vice President for Information Services and Librarian of the College. Contribution to the library profession through scholarship, participation in professional associations, and other forms of service is expected and supported.
     Qualifications: ALA-Accredited Master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent required; two to three years of experience providing research assistance in an academic library including research / reference services preferred. Excellent oral and written communication, in particular, editorial skills for internal organizational publications. Must have strong teaching skills, and an understanding and knowledge of current and emerging trends in library instruction; experience using mobile devices, social networking, and other forms of technology for social media outreach and to deliver information services to library constituents; experience with existing and emerging research tools, methodologies, and resources; demonstrated experience with the application and use of digital scholarship tools and methods; demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team; excellent attention to detail, grammar, and design, and have the ability to meet deadlines with quality and accurate work. Some evening and weekend work will be also be required. Must also be able to work collaboratively with faculty to promote the integration of primary sources in archives and special collections into the curriculum and student research. Graphic design, marketing and digital content production experience preferred. Knowledge of and experience with Photoshop and InDesign; experience with digital scholarship tools such as ArcGIS, Carto, Tableau or others a plus.

Instruction and Outreach Librarian Fellowship - Choate Rosemary Hall Andrew Mellon Library. The Instruction and Outreach Librarian Fellowship is a one-year, 42-week faculty position reporting to the Director of Studies.
     Andrew Mellon Library Overview: The Andrew Mellon Library at Choate Rosemary Hall is at the heart of teaching and learning. The Library's mission is to enhance the academic environment and support the education of each of our students. With the advent of the digital and technological revolution, the importance of this role is amplified. Library faculty collaborate with teaching faculty to help students learn information and technology literacy skills. Instruction in research strategies, evaluation of sources, and citing resources are offered in a variety of flexible models. Students, faculty, and staff have access to over 190,000 titles including 130,000 eBooks and over 50 scholarly databases. In addition, the library makes available textbooks, laptops, iPads, chargers, headphones, and other technologies to the Choate community and actively works with student groups and faculty to host academic and social programs.
     Position Overview: The Andrew Mellon Library at Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a dynamic educator-librarian to join a blended faculty librarian team. This person will partner with colleagues to design and teach bibliographic instruction classes utilizing innovative learning technologies and pedagogies to support student learning. The successful candidate will have experience with library outreach, library programming, and social media initiatives. The individual will be motivated and team-oriented with broad experience in academic librarianship, information literacy, and pedagogical best practices. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter and eager to participate in a collegial partnership.
     To fulfill the responsibilities, the Instruction/Outreach Librarian: Serves as a member of the library's research and instruction team. Instruction and Outreach Librarian - The Katharine Brush Library at The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut is searching for a dynamic, progressive, and patron-focused Instruction and Outreach Librarian. Librarian/Information Specialist - School Year 2017-2018. The Foote School in New Haven, CT seeks a qualified Librarian/Information Specialist to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the library program is aligned with The Foote School’s mission and is an integral component of the instructional goals of the school. This position will be part of a collaborative library team that fosters a love of reading, contributes to an information-literate student body and maintains a dynamic library collection. The successful candidate will be a team player and a nurturing, flexible person who understands the developmental and cognitive needs of children. The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and peers as well as employ a variety of instructional techniques to engage young learners is essential.       Roles and Responsibilities:
      Teacher: As a teacher/librarian, the successful candidate will encourage students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information by guiding students in the development of research skills using print materials, databases and internet resources; specifically in grades 4-9; the assessment of digital resources; reading for understanding, for exposure to diverse viewpoints, a range of genres and for pleasure.
      Instructional Partner: As an instructional partner, the teacher/librarian will collaborate with teachers in Kindergarten through 9th grade. The teacher/librarian will be a partner in the instructional process by collaborating with classroom teachers in the curriculum design process; providing a range of resources for teachers to assist in curriculum development and support ongoing units of study; collaborating with technology department to create curriculum that reflects best practices in information literacy and digital citizenship; attending departmental meetings.
      Information Specialist: As information specialist, the teacher/librarian ensures equitable access and responsible use of information by developing and maintaining a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school community; selecting materials that represent diverse perspectives and needs of students, staff and the Foote School community; understanding copyright, fair use and assisting users with their understanding and observance of the same; organizing the collection for maximum and effective use; working closely with the technology department to ensure technical resources are current and functioning properly. Library resources include 14 desktop computers and 5 laptop computers, 2 printers and a projector used for teaching.
      Additional Responsibilities: As a member of the library staff and the Foote School community, additional responsibilities will include providing supervision in the library during after-school hours; other administrative duties as needed; serving on faculty committees; facilitating personal growth through professional development opportunities.
      Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Studies or similar field preferred. Minimum 3+ years teaching experience at the elementary/middle school level required. Knowledge of information literacy skills for children and adolescents; library organization; print (books, magazines, etc.) and non-print (e-books, audio collections, DVD’s, etc.) collection development for children and adolescents.

Instruction and Outreach Librarian - Andrew Mellon Library, Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT. The Instruction and Outreach Librarian is a 42-week faculty position reporting to the Director of the Andrew Mellon Library.
     Andrew Mellon Library Overview: The Andrew Mellon Library at Choate Rosemary Hall is at the heart of teaching and learning. The Library's mission is to enhance the academic environment and support the education of each of our students. With the advent of the digital and technological revolution, the importance of this role is amplified. Library faculty collaborate with teaching faculty to help students learn information and technology literacy skills. Instruction in research strategies, evaluation of sources, and citing resources are offered in a variety of flexible models. Students, faculty, and staff have access to over 190,000 titles including 130,000 eBooks and over 50 scholarly databases. In addition, the library makes available textbooks, laptops, iPads, chargers, headphones, and other technologies to the Choate community and actively works with student groups and faculty to host academic and social programs.
     Position Overview: The Andrew Mellon Library at Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a dynamic educator-librarian to join a blended faculty librarian team. This person will partner with colleagues to design and teach bibliographic instruction classes utilizing innovative learning technologies and pedagogies to support student learning. The successful candidate will have experience with library outreach, library programming, and social media initiatives. The individual will be motivated and team-oriented with broad experience in academic librarianship, information literacy, and pedagogical best practices. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter and eager to participate in a collegial partnership.
     To fulfill the responsibilities, the Instruction/Outreach Librarian: Serves as a member of the library's research and instruction team. Develops user-centered tools for research and instruction units in collaboration with librarian colleagues. Provides relevant embedded instruction in research and citation skills. Utilizes innovative learning technologies and pedagogies in support of student learning. Assists faculty, staff and student research, providing assistance online and in-person, for both one-on-one research consultations and at service points in the library. Participates in a collegial team environment with other faculty librarians to oversee and manage collections and services. Works with others to select print and electronic sources to support the curriculum. Oversees the social media program of the Andrew Mellon Library. Supports the Library Director to plan and execute library programming and conferences. Monitors the work of the library support staff on projects and during evening shifts. Engages in ongoing professional development. Oversees the library during Summer Programs, coordinating the work of support staff and collaborating with summer faculty to support teaching and learning.
     Requirements: Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university. 3-5 years library experience in an academic setting or independent school environment.
