Trenton Free Public Library Join New Jersey’s capital city library as Director of the Trenton Free Public Library. Lead the second oldest free public library in America into the future with your leadership skills and vision for excellent library service. Trenton Free Public Library Board of Trustees is looking for a proven and dedicated leader with a record of success. The Director will help to create a service program that addresses the needs of parents, children, teens, college students, job seekers, new immigrants and state and city employees. Our Academy Street, 1902 library, is poised for a renewal in use, image and renovation with a new children’s room, refreshed teen area and community space in progress. EDUCATION: A Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science or a degree in a related field is required (or a pending enrollment in one). EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of library experience, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of Civil Service rules is a plus. COMPENSATION: The starting salary is a minimum of $114,000 or more depending on experience and qualifications. There is a generous benefit package. LOCATION: The Director works from the well maintained and inspiring 1902 library building on Academy Street in downtown Trenton, near public schools, a community college and many state office buildings. The population of Trenton City is 85,000 people and grows to 150,000 people during the workday with many state employees entering the city.
