     Responsibilities. The CEO, reporting to the Board of Trustees, oversees a nationally recognized library system. This position provides overall strategic and operational leadership with full responsibility for, but not limited to, the following areas: personnel and fiscal management; marketing and communications; fundraising and development; emergent technologies; facilities; and external partnership development through engagement with key stakeholder groups. Valuing transparency, trust, and collegiality, the CEO will lead a large, complex and innovative organization to its full and exciting potential.
     Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include a Masters’ Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of management experience in a complex organization. Additional skills include political acumen, strong communication skills, ability to think and plan strategically, the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders, and demonstrated ability in fiscal management. Experience in a public library with multiple locations, reporting to a governing board, working in a multicultural environment, and collective bargaining are desired qualifications. Compensation. The starting salary range is $175,000 - $195,000 (with placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) with an attractive benefits package.

Library Director

Librarian III

The White Plains Public Library (NY) has an opening for a Librarian III to serve as manager of youth services. One of the busiest public libraries in New York State, the White Plains Public Library values excellent customer service and innovation in library services.  This position, which is available due to retirement, oversees the Trove, our library for children and families, as well as the Edge, our library and digital media lab for teens. As a Librarian III, you will evaluate the effectiveness of the Library’s services to youth; recommend and implement new programs; represent the Library to the White Plains community; work with White Plains Public Schools, the White Plains Youth Bureau, and other community organizations; supervise staff while providing opportunities for development and training; oversee library collections; and prepare and manage budgets, in addition to other responsibilities.  Special consideration will be given to candidates who: Are excited by the opportunity to create library services for youth and families in a multilingual, multicultural city. Executive Director

Newark Public Library Newark, New Jersey The Newark Public Library seeks a dynamic, visionary leader to serve as its new Director. Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, the Director leads the Newark Public Library in developing a vision and implementing its strategic goals. The Director works closely with elected officials in the city of Newark and with other city departments, divisions and outside agencies. As a community leader, the Director must have the talent, skill, and energy to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment and political acumen to ensure that library services complement the needs and desires of community residents. Established in 1889, the Newark Public Library has a long history of innovation and service, including the distinction of having John Cotton Dana among the ranks of their prior directors. Information Technology Director

Great Neck Library This is a contract, confidential position that reports to the Executive Director of the Great Neck Library. Responsibilities: Report to the Executive Director and assists in the day-to-day technology operations of the Library. Participate in any renovation project, including attending construction and Building Advisory Committee meetings as needed. Assist in planning and procedures for instituting any new technology in the Main Library and Branches. Manages Technical Services, Computer Services and Website Services . Makes recommendations for technology improvements to the Executive Director. Manage the library catalog (Innovative Interface), LILink, Website, Financial software and other programs the library uses to insure they are functioning and up to date with version changes that meet the needs of the organization. Work closely and collaboratively with technical service staff, integrated library system vendor, application vendors and other partners to further the discovery, delivery, maintenance and preservation of Library and other data. Coordinate the installation, testing, customization, and ongoing configuration of Library systems software and related upgrades. Maintain the various online processes for integration of Library Services Platform data and external systems such as LILink, OCLC, WorldCat, etc. Will insure compliance with authorization policies and license agreements. Skills Required: Bachelor's degree in computer information science or closely related field or the equivalent practical experience. Five years of professional experience in all aspects of information technology. MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution required. Must have 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience. This individual will bring strong analytical, technical and troubleshooting skills in support of a complex array of library applications. Has strong commitment to system integrity, support and continuity of operations, actively coordinating and communicating with vendors and others in pursuit of problem resolution. Skills Preferred:  Demonstrated experience administering an Integrated Library System within a large scale library setting. Demonstrated knowledge of discovery tools and metadata practices supporting discovery, specifically in a library context. Knowledge of bibliographic record structure such as MARC, XML markup, etc. Technical knowledge of library services and supporting data (including Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloging and Electronic Resource management) Experience integrating third-party applications into library systems. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Experience with personnel issues preferred. The Collections department of Tisch Library is newly re-organized to better align with our strategic plans. Reporting to the Head of Collections, the successful candidate in this new position will lead the selection of materials to add to the open access Tufts Digital Library, focusing on materials produced by AS&E faculty and students, as well as published and unpublished born-digital materials that complement local strengths and deepen the collection in areas of strategic importance on campus.
