Library Assistant (LTA 1, part-time) – The Essex Library
seeks a reliable person with excellent customer service skills to work
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 7 PM as well as occasional Saturdays.
Duties include staffing the Circulation Desk, checking in and processing
ILL materials, and other tasks as assigned. Experience working in a
public library preferred, but MLIS candidates without direct experience
are encouraged to apply. Successful candidate must be able to stand for
extended periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs. Familiarity with III
Sierra or Millennium ILS is a plus. This position does not include
healthcare benefits but is eligible for paid time off and a salary
increase after a six month probationary period. Starting salary is

Services and Document Delivery Assistant. This is a 20 hour a week

Searches will involve using available technology, such as ILLiad, DOCLINE, and email. Interpret and comply with CONTU Guidelines (National Commission on New Technological Uses of Copyrighted Works) for complying with provisions of copyright law governing photocopy requests. Basic office duties including departmental mail distribution, answering phones, take and relay messages, answer questions within scope of knowledge and authority. Cover the Health Sciences Library Circulation Desk including utilizing pertinent functions of the Innovative Interfaces system find materials, checking in/out books, shelving some books, etc. Responsible for closing the health science library and all related duties. Assist in the supervision of student assistants. Coordinate with Health Science Library staff to have a working knowledge of library offerings and to maintain the order and integrity of the periodical stacks. Assist in special projects and compiles data in MS Excel to create spreadsheets as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; broad specialized training preferred.
Qualifications: Preferred knowledge of a Library. Flexible schedule is required.
Please note this is a 12 month, Grade 5 position in the Clerical & Technical Unit, hourly rate is $22.00. In addition, it requires a successful completion of both a background check and Microsoft Office skills test.

The selected candidate will have proven experience coordinating cross-functional teams, be passionate about providing exemplary customer service and have demonstrated expertise working with collection management software, preferably with CollectionHQ. Familiarity with publishers and trends in publishing, both print and non-print; strong communications and presentation skills; excellent planning, organization, critical and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal, collaboration, and presentation skills. The position requires willingness and availability to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Responsible for the providing direct oversight of the borrowing, RAPID ILL, and course reserves services for the SML and Bass Libraries and oversee a unit of 4 FTE. Provides expertise and knowledge to the Library in matters relating to Course Reserves, Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery. Works closely with the Access Services Policy Group to establish standards for excellent service, assesses whether service standards are being met, and recommends and implements changes to improve service to Library users that are consistent with the strategic priorities of the Library. Serves on the Ares and ILLiad user groups to develop best practices and ensure that the software and training needs of staff are being adequately met. Assesses use and efficacy of existing reserves services, identifies gaps, and collaborates with others to develop new approaches to support Yale faculty and students. Works closely with colleagues in electronic resources, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and subject liaisons to investigate, develop and implement library access services that support teaching initiatives and the delivery of library content into course management systems at Yale. Works closely with Library IT to ensure that software needs are being met and developed to address new initiatives. Serves as a resource on all course reserves, interlibrary loan, and document delivery matters. Responsible for not only remaining abreast of changes affecting these areas but also for assuming an active role at Yale and within the profession, working to shape and improve services for Library users by establishing and maintaining professional networks and collaborative relationships with other campus service providers and libraries outside of Yale. Position Summary: This position is located in the Library of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, a four year, accredited, degree-granting institution and center of leadership development for the Coast Guard. As the Head of Reference and Instruction the incumbent is responsible for delivering quality reference and instruction services required to support the education and training outcomes of the Institution. The incumbent is expected to be an articulate advocate of information literacy issues, both within and outside the Academy. additional advanced degree in a subject area, especially in sciences or
