Adult Librarian - Canterbury Public Library

Adult Librarian - Canterbury Public Library is seeking a part-time (23 hours a week, $16.56/hr) adult and reference librarian. Monday-Thursday with occasional Saturdays. One week of vacation will be given after one year of employment.
     Responsibilities: Provide reference assistance, including providing patrons with assistance using the computers. Staffing the circulation desk and providing circulation duties. Overseeing adult and teen volunteers. Cataloging new and donated materials using RDA. Repairing damaged books. Facilitating book discussions and the adult summer reading program. 
     Required Qualifications: Library or customer service experience. Knowledge of and experience with cataloging and library systems. Excellent communication and human relations skills; flexibility in dealing with different environments. Comfortable and competent in an online environment. Excellent technology skills including Microsoft Office suite. Friendly, welcoming demeanor and ability to work well with a diverse patron group.
     Desired Qualifications: MLIS; experience with Verso; supervisory experience; knowledge in a coding language; experience with wix.com.

Library Assistant - The Janet Carlson Calvert Library in Franklin, CT has a welcoming and pleasing atmosphere. We are looking for a person to become a vital member of our team. The part-time, 12 hour position, has rotating Saturday, morning and evening hours. The Assistant will be expected to perform all duties that may occur in a small public library. These duties include but are not limited to plan, prepare and execute library programs such as story time and crafts, complete processing of library materials including cataloging and stack maintenance, maintain library computers, perform ILL, handle the circulation desk, and answer reference questions. Custodial duties required when needed. Liaison to various community outreach programs. Experience with an ILS, preferably Evergreen. Working knowledge of current technology, software, social media and WordPress a plus. Available for extended hours as needed, attend meetings when Director not available and interested to stay current with the library field. Shelving proficiency test required. Technical Services Associate (part-time) - The Acton Public Library (Old Saybrook) is seeking a detail oriented, collaborative and technologically savvy Technical Services Associate. Technical Services Associate performs professional library duties in the area of cataloging and classification of print and non-print materials, and other collection items. The person will participate in collection development and maintenance.

Digital Services Librarian - The West Haven Library is seeking a Digital Services Librarian with strong technology skills to join our professional team. Librarian I, Technical Services - North Haven Memorial Library.
     DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops, coordinates, and administers the operations of the Technical Services Department. Functional knowledge of public library organizations and collections; RDA, Library of Congress Subject Headings; Machine Readable Cataloging Records (MARC); Dewey Decimal Classification system; Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Catalogs and classifies all library materials using contemporary bibliographic maintenance standards and practices. Performs original cataloging as required. Understands and is able to perform all jobs related to library technical services, including but not limited to: maintaining an accurate up-to-date database of library holdings; physical processing of items being added to and withdrawn from collection; maintains accurate lists of standing orders. Must be technologically proficient. Develops procedures for processing all library materials. Trains all Technical Services staff and volunteers. Assigns and oversees their workload. Prepares and maintains reports. Receives and checks shipments from publishers and vendors. Routinely works at Public Service Desks. Assists patron needs with tact and courtesy. Accepts additional duties as assigned and is qualified to work in any department within the library organization. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, and peers. Professional knowledge of current library practices and procedures. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Library representative to bibliographic meetings and activities.
     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA accredited college or university plus 1 -2 years cataloging experience. Knowledge of Sierra Integrated Library System and LION Consortium cataloging standards a plus. The successful candidate is expected to work some evenings and Saturdays in rotation. This is a 35hr/week position and part of a collective bargaining unit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.

     POSITION SUMMARY: Assumes responsibility for performing basic copy cataloging and processing functions as well as providing information and services to library patrons in an effort to ensure effective operations of the Allen Music Library, a music and dance library. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.
     JOB DUTIES: Performs copy cataloging for music, dance and related performing arts materials in multiple formats consistent with data integrity standards. Assists in the maintenance of authority records. Provides guidance and training to student employees on copy cataloging procedures and processing of music and dance materials.
     Participates in the development of library systems, including testing, problem identification and suggestions of functionalities and/or resolutions related to cataloging and processing.
Assists in daily operations of the Allen Music Library and provides quality customer service, answering inquiries pertaining to library resources. Provides technical support for computers and library equipment as necessary and/or appropriate.
     Adheres to local and national standards for copy cataloging of materials in various formats..
Receives, prepares and processes materials for binding. Maintains supply inventory. Trains and oversees student staff in the appropriate repair of library materials.
     Participates in campus, local and area professional development seminars and training. Attends committee and staff meetings as necessary and/or appropriate.
     Performs other related duties as assigned.

Library Technical Services Associate - Mark Twain Library

Library Technical Services Associate - The historic, comfortable, and lively Mark Twain Library in Redding has an immediate opening for a part-time technical services associate for 15 hours per week, Pay rate is $16.35 per hour. Duties include direct customer service at the circulation desk and a variety of technical services duties including copy cataloging, receiving and processing new book orders and other duties as assigned. The library is part of the Bibliomation consortium and experience working with Evergreen or other integrated library system is a definite plus. Schedule includes morning and/or afternoon hours with some flexibility in scheduling of hours. Additional hours may be available on an as-needed basis. Candidates should have a college degree. Attention to detail, excellent customer service skills and a team work spirit are required.
