Library Aide II: Children’s and Circulation - Town of Canton

Library Aide II: Children’s and Circulation - The Town of Canton is seeking a pleasant, customer-service-oriented self-starter to join the staff of the Canton Public Library as a part-time Library Aide II. This position will primarily be in the Children’s department but will also encompass some circulation responsibilities. Responsibilities of the position include: staffing the children’s desk; providing reference and readers’ advisory services to children and families; answering basic information questions; creating signs, flyers, and displays; processing children’s library materials; assisting patrons with computers, copier, library catalog, etc.; staffing and providing assistance at the circulation desk; answering and routing calls; and charging and discharging library materials.
     The successful candidate will enjoy and have experience working with children, tweens, and families; have strong knowledge of children’s literature and library services; have excellent customer service and communication skills; and be welcoming, courteous, and friendly to patrons of all ages. Strong computer and technology skills are essential.
     Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree and have experience working with the public, including experience working directly with children. Previous library work strongly preferred. Experience with III’s Sierra ILS a plus.
     The position is 20 hours per week, including one evening and every other Saturday, and is eligible for pro-rated sick, vacation, and holiday pay. $17.72/hour.

Library Aide, Part Time - (M-1004, Not Tested). City of New Haven. SALARY: $14.00 per hour. HOURS: Up to 19 hours per week (part time). Removal Date: December 29, 2017.
      NATURE OF WORK: This is a paraprofessional position that involves clerical, materials processing, technology support and circulation tasks and other standard library routines such as shelving, registration, and orientation of patrons to collections and services. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level library staff member. Schedule of work is 19 hours per week, primarily on weekends, at Ives or at branches.
      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school; and at least one year experience in library, clerical, technical or customer service work, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Knowledge of routine office procedures; Knowledge of computer hardware and software; Knowledge of correct English usage, punctuation, spelling, grammar and vocabulary; Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System; Ability to file alphabetically and numerically; Ability to make basic arithmetic computations; Ability to understand and follow instructions and to learn related clerical and library tasks within a reasonable time; Spanish/English bilingual highly desirable.

Legislative Aide - Connecticut State Library Bill Room. Job Description: As an employee of the principal Law Library in the State of CT, the individual in this position will learn the legislative process by working with highly skilled government professionals. The Bill Room is part of the Law & Legislative Reference Department at the Connecticut State Library, which is located in the State Supreme Court Building across the street from the State Capitol. Staff provide legal and legislative reference services to members of the Bench, the Bar, State Agencies, students and faculty as well as the general public. Duties of this position primarily include organizing legislative bills along with accompanying amendments, roll call votes, etc. and scanning older bill files for inclusion in the State’s permanent archive of sessional General Assembly material associated with the legislative process. Other tasks dependent on interest and time may include visiting legislative offices to acquire timely legislative documents, tracking bills via CGALites (the Connecticut General Assembly's intranet), attending public hearings covering an area of personal interest, and special projects as needed. Position coincides with the 2017 regular Legislative session (beginning on January 4 and ending June 7, 2017). Pay rate is approximately $12/hr subject to a slight increase. Hours are somewhat flexible to accommodate school/other life commitments. Position is funded up to 40 hours per week. Town of Canton The Town of Canton is seeking a pleasant, customer-service-oriented self-starter to join the staff of the Canton Public Library as a part-time Circulation Assistant.  Responsibilities of the position include: charging and discharging library materials; answering and routing phone calls; collecting fines and other payments; assisting patrons with copier, library catalog, etc.; answering basic information questions; and creating signs, flyers, and displays. Applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills and be courteous, friendly and welcoming to patrons both in person and over the phone. Library Aide – Adult Department - Willimantic Public Library


The Library Aide performs entry-level library and clerical work including the shelving of books and other materials, assisting patrons in locating materials, and other tasks related to the maintenance of the library’s collection.  Work involves the responsibility for assuring the proper location of materials and placing materials back where they belong.  Additional duties include emptying the book drop, discharging books, operating the copier, assisting with mailings, and receiving material.  Position requires attention to detail, meticulousness, and the responsibility for making routine clerical decisions.  This work requires some knowledge, skills and ability in standard office practices.    Part Time position, $12.60 per hour.

Library Aide II - Canton Public Library. The Town of Canton seeks applications for the position of Library Aide II at the Reference Desk of the Canton Public Library. This position is 20 hours per week and pays $16.20 per hour, plus prorated leave time. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends.
