Library Assistant - The Norfolk Library is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, self-motivated person to join our small library team. Founded in 1888, the historic Norfolk Library is a vibrant community center that offers family and children’s programs, concerts, and lectures, as well as traditional library services. We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people and sharing their passion for libraries and community engagement. Excellent customer service, written and interpersonal skills, proficiency with computers, the ability to multi-task, an enthusiasm for learning and a sense of humor are essential. Responsibilities of this position include: circulation services and use of the library’s computerized circulation system to manage library materials and assist patrons; answer patrons’ questions using traditional and digital resources; assist patrons with computers, electronic devices, and library resources; occasional clerical work such as processing books and other library materials and circulation statistics; when required, opening or closing the library; setting up for programs and assisting with publicity as necessary. Starting hours (16-20): three weekday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Additional hours may be available on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities. The Executive Director’s primary role is to provide
leadership and initiative for LibraryLinkNJ. The ED works with the
Executive Board and members of the Cooperative in the development and
implementation of programs to enhance library services in New Jersey;
manages the headquarters office; makes recommendations to the Executive
Board concerning the hiring of office staff; and supervises and
motivates staff in accordance with policies adopted by the Executive
Board. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the New Jersey
State Library and drafts the annual strategic initiatives and budget for
review and approval. The ED also serves as a liaison to local, county,
state and national library organizations and is dedicated to “Moving
Forward Together.” “LibraryLinkNJ empowers libraries to serve their
clientele more effectively and enhances the value of member libraries to
their communities.” Qualifications. Required qualifications include
an M.L.S. degree from an A.L.A. accredited institution and ten years of
professional library experience, including three years of experience in
an administrative/managerial position in a library, nonprofit

experience reporting to a governing Board, and a strong commitment to the evolving role of

Part-Time Library Circulation Staff - Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is seeking an individual with excellent customer service skills to work at the circulation desk. This is a 20 hour a week union position. Required hours include at least one Saturday per month from 9:30am - 4pm; Mondays and Wednesday from 4pm-8pm; Tuesday 10am-4pm and Thursday 9a-3p. When not working Saturday, Thursday would be off. The hourly compensation for this position is $17.16 per hour. The successful candidate should be able to perform a wide variety of library related tasks and have the ability to meet the public courteously. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to work in both the Adult and Children’s departments. Computer literacy is necessary and prior experience in a library using Triple I’s Sierra is preferable. Part Time Circulation Desk Assistant - Rockville Public Library, Vernon, seeks an individual to work a part-time position in our Adult Circulation Department for approximately 10-14 hours a week with a varied work schedule. This position requires excellent customer service skills, along with the ability to perform a variety of circulation duties, (i.e., locating library materials for patrons, shelving of materials, answering phones, and assistance with technology questions). Must be courteous and be attentive to detail. High School diploma or GED required with associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Please respond by Friday, January 16, 2015.
