West Haven Library seeks an energetic, tech-savvy librarian to join our staff to serve the needs of our diverse 12-18 year-old young adults. This position is Full-Time (37.5 hours), benefit eligible and a union position. Nights and some weekends are a must. The Bell Library

The library program

to: Overseeing the daily operation of the library, including resource
management, acquisitions, collection development, and scheduling. Managing the library’s operating budget and the
Bell Library Fund. Acquiring relevant
print and online resources
to support the curriculum. In collaboration
with the faculty, providing relevant, embedded
instruction in research, citation, and other library skills. Developing programs to educate community
members about the resources available
in Bell Library. Serving
as a member of the Department Chair committee and representing the library
throughout the community. Providing
professional development support to faculty and staff in collaboration with the Academic Support Coordinator and the school’s
professional development committee. Developing and promoting a well-used
fiction collection, including collaborating with teachers
to
support students
reading for pleasure. Building the library’s non-print collection, specifically through the acquisition of research databases,
subscriptions, and
ebooks. Maintaining and evaluating the library’s
catalog, holdings, subscriptions,
and LibGuides. Directing
the student-staffed Writing
Center, in conjunction
with a member of the English

Media Circuits Coordinator
Connecticut Library Consortium. Part-time independent contractor position. Connecticut Library Consortium, a non-profit library service organization, has an opening for this contracted position from June 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. General position description: Coordinate audiobook, general DVD, and foreign film DVD rotating collections for participating Connecticut libraries, primarily in eastern Connecticut, and attend and manage collection “swap” events. Duties/Requirements: Position requires individual familiar with audiobook and DVD collections who can efficiently manage workflow; process collection materials; maintain policies, procedures and collection database; manage program budget; interface with CLC staff; and provide excellent customer service to circuit participants. Position is based in Eastern Connecticut; circuit swaps are held on alternating Wednesdays in Windham County, East Lyme, or Middletown. 10-15 hours (average) weekly. No benefits. Children’s Librarian
The Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library is looking for a dynamic, independent, technologically proficient individual for a full-time professional position to manage Children’s Services. Equally important attributes for the job are enthusiasm and motivation for working with children and promoting the love of reading through library services. The Children’s Librarian is responsible for age’s birth to 12 and works closely with the Young Adult Librarian to coordinate services. Primary responsibilities include collection development, programming, marketing of services to the public, readers’ advisory, providing homework help and/or afterschool activities. In addition, performing outreach through community agencies and schools as well as collaboration with local and regional partners is expected. School visits, providing assistance with public computers and public access catalog, and overseeing the summer reading program are also required. Additional responsibilities include assistance in the Circulation Department and Adult Information Services is also needed. Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution (or equivalent experience) preferably with a concentration in children’s services is required. Minimum of one year professional experience in children’s services preferred. MLS students who have completed a minimum of four courses including reference and children’s literature are encouraged to apply. The position requires knowledge of children’s literature and reading interests and the ability to relate to children and adults. This person will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as understanding of room/behavior management; proficiency with MS Office, knowledge of graphic design, website software, social media and digital resources, and general knowledge of library automated systems. Experience with Innovative Interfaces’ Sierra platform a plus. This is a full time 35 hour per week position including some evenings and Saturday rotation. Salary range $36,400 to $43,175.
