     Position Focus: Reporting to the Director of Access Services, the Reserve Services and Resource Sharing Librarian is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering reserves support and resource sharing services for users served by the Sterling Memorial and Bass Libraries. Responsible for the providing direct oversight of the borrowing, RAPID ILL, and course reserves services for the SML and Bass Libraries and oversee a unit of 4 FTE. Provides expertise and knowledge to the Library in matters relating to Course Reserves, Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery. Works closely with the Access Services Policy Group to establish standards for excellent service, assesses whether service standards are being met, and recommends and implements changes to improve service to Library users that are consistent with the strategic priorities of the Library. Serves on the Ares and ILLiad user groups to develop best practices and ensure that the software and training needs of staff are being adequately met. Assesses use and efficacy of existing reserves services, identifies gaps, and collaborates with others to develop new approaches to support Yale faculty and students. Works closely with colleagues in electronic resources, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and subject liaisons to investigate, develop and implement library access services that support teaching initiatives and the delivery of library content into course management systems at Yale. Works closely with Library IT to ensure that software needs are being met and developed to address new initiatives. Serves as a resource on all course reserves, interlibrary loan, and document delivery matters. Responsible for not only remaining abreast of changes affecting these areas but also for assuming an active role at Yale and within the profession, working to shape and improve services for Library users by establishing and maintaining professional networks and collaborative relationships with other campus service providers and libraries outside of Yale. Recommends and oversees implementation and training of new technologies to meet user needs and improve processing efficiency. Remains informed about copyright issues and accessibility issues and works with the Library, University General Counsel, and the University administration to establish and implement appropriate guidelines for copyright compliance and ADA accommodation.
      Required Education, Skills and Experience: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school is required; minimum of two years of professional experience. Proven ability supervising in a high-paced service environment. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communications skills, including the ability to actively listen, understand and articulate user needs. Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service. Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications and analytical ability. Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a conclusion in a timely fashion. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi‐task and meet deadlines, and to conceptualize new solutions to problems with creativity and flexibility. Demonstrated experience working with library systems and/or vendors to develop and enhance library services. Strong interest in emerging technologies and service trends. Experience working collegially and cooperatively within and across organizations. Demonstrated ability to work independently and form and develop collaborative relationships and services with others. Demonstrated ability to assess services needs and make recommendations for improvement. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and implement projects.

Circulation / Reserve Manager -

Quinnipiac University School of Law Lynne L. Pantalena Law Library, North Haven, CT Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the Circulation Department and the Reserve Collection.  Oversees the day-to-day operation of the department and manages the circulation module of Innovative Interfaces, Inc. (III), which is the library’s integrated automated library system (ILS). Independently supervises, trains, and schedules student assistants and other library staff. Knowledge of bibliographic tools and ability to provide basic instruction in and assistance with use of library materials, electronic resources, and equipment. Recommends the creation and development of new policies and procedures as necessary. Serves as primary sources of information regarding patron privileges and circulation policies and procedures. Maintains Reserve Collection – hardcopy and electronic course reserve materials within the III system. Collect and download data from circulation module, record patron use of physical library, and compile patron usage statistics as needed. Oversee routine maintenance of collections in coordination with technical services department staff. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of library experience is required. Library circulation experience and experience with an integrated library automation system is preferred. Knowledge of web-based database searching. Possess strong supervisory, management and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with other library and university departments. Library Assistant V, Science Library - Wesleyan University

Reporting to the Science Librarian, Library Assistant V has the primary responsibility for the processing, circulation, and organization of the physical reserves for Division III (natural sciences and mathematics); management of the video recording and maps collections for the Wesleyan University Library, (collections which are housed in the Science Library); maintenance and bindery preparation for current periodicals in the Science Library; and the creation of item records for bound journal volumes.
The position shares responsibility for opening and maintaining Science Library facilities; supervising student employees and daily operations; assisting patrons and providing information about the library; stacks maintenance; and troubleshooting public printers and library technology.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Process and oversee physical reserve services for Division III courses.
• Receive reserve requests submitted by/for faculty, work with acquisitions and CTW libraries to obtain materials as necessary, enter and maintain reserve items in the online library system, inventory physical materials each semester, and determine need for replacement of lost or missing items.
• Train and supervise student employees in reserve circulation policies and procedures and shelf reading of the reserve collection.
• Propose, implement, evaluate and revise reserve procedures as needed.
• Maintain the circulation and fine system for Science Library Reserve materials.
• Coordinate reserve policies and procedures with Olin Library staff.
• Compile and maintain the computer files, records, and statistics for Science Library Reserve.
• Manage video recordings (VHS and DVD) collections, including conducting a periodic inventory of the collections and, with the Collection Development Coordinator and subject selectors, arrange for the replacement of lost or damaged recordings and those in a deteriorating or obsolete format as necessary.
• Oversee re-shelving and maintenance of current periodicals in the Science Library; coordinate binding with the Serials Department; record in-house journal usage statistics when necessary.
• Conduct long-term project to barcode and add item records for all bound journal volumes in the Science Library.
• Work on special projects as needed and in collaboration with other library departments to fulfill the mission and vision of the library.
• Change processes and workflow based on customer demands and library vision.
• Participate in library meetings, committees, and initiatives.
• Participate in university initiatives as appropriate.
• Attend training sessions and conferences as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Shared responsibilities include:
• Open the Science Library when scheduled and supervise student employees.
• Supervise and participate in the daily operations of the Science Library circulation desk; ensure that the circulation desk is staffed whenever the library is open.
• Assist users with circulation problems, questions, complaints; explain library policies and procedures; update patron records as needed.
• Provide information regarding the library and its collections; assist users with the online catalog, use of electronic resources, location of books in the stacks, and materials in other library collections.
• Supervise shelving and stacks maintenance for assigned Science Library collections; identify items needing preservation/repair, oversee shelf reading, physical shifting of materials, and signage.
• Troubleshoot multi-function devices (printers/scanners/copiers) and work with ITS and MFD vendor as needed to resolve problems; order supplies for printers.
• Assist library users with general technology questions and troubleshooting.
• Provide administrative support to the Science Librarian as requested.
• Act as backup for the other Science Library Assistant, performing her primary responsibilities when she is absent.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This a full time position, 35hrs per week, in the secretarial/clerical bargaining unit.
Associate degree and eight years of related experience including three or more years in a library. Education may be substituted for years of experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and the staff modules of an integrated library system.
Experience in an online library environment. Understanding of Library of Congress classification system and MARC cataloging format. Experience with a range of computer software and applications. Comfort and facility learning new technology independently and demonstrated technology troubleshooting abilities. Accurate and rapid keyboarding skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment. Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
Ability to perform the primary responsibilities of the position listed above with reasonable accommodations if needed.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Background in the sciences or mathematics. Experience supervising student employees and working in an academic library public services department.
Experience using the circulation, reserve, and cataloging clients of an integrated library system. Working knowledge of Voyager.
Experience processing and managing print reserves in an academic library environment.
Methodical and detail-oriented. Comfort with mobile technology and social media. Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a constantly changing environment. Ability to work with a variety of people and to prioritize needs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule is desirable.

Access Services Supervisor - University of New Haven

Access Services Supervisor - University of New Haven Library seeks a manager with library experience to lead the Access Services team in providing exceptional service to our faculty and students. The Access Services Supervisor has overall responsibilities of the department including circulation services, course reserves; stack maintenance, and providing assistance to students utilizing the various technologies in the Library. This position is expected to contribute to an innovative and collaborative approach to user-centered services and collections ensuring that the full range of services is consistently and reliably provided. Hires, trains and evaluates staff and student workers. Monitors and assesses department’s productivity and quality of output/work performed; Provides staff growth and development opportunities; Investigates and evaluates new products to improve workflow and provide better services; Ensures that patron accounts are properly maintained, and that circulation policies are consistently implemented; handles patrons’ issues or complaints; Supervises the course reserve collection; Ensures that students are supported in utilizing Library services, such as laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, photocopiers, etc.; Supervises weeding, shelving, shifting and shelf reading of the monographic and serial collections; Keeps detailed statistics of all departmental activities; Prepares monthly activity reports and other evaluative reports as assigned; Participates in establishing policies/standards/guidelines/procedures for the formulation of the Library’s priorities and the achievement of the Library’s goals. This position reports to the University Librarian and requires flexibility in scheduling including evening and weekend hours and schedule changes when necessary. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required along with 2-3 years of Supervisory experience. Knowledge of and experience with integrated library systems is required; familiarity with the Voyager system preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is essential and familiarity of OCLC is helpful. The ability to train staff and student employees, including on-going skills development is necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary as is the capability to learn and implement new technologies and train staff to utilize them. A firm commitment to providing exceptional service to UNH faculty and students is absolutely essential as is a demonstrated ability to work collegially and professionally with all levels of staff.
