Library Development Manager: Search Reopened - E.C. Scranton Memorial Library, Madison. Part-Time. The E.C. Scranton Memorial Library provides public library service to the Town of Madison, CT. We are a 501c(3) organization governed by a volunteer-member Board of Trustees. The Town provides approximately 85% of our total operating budget while the remainder is funded primarily through fundraising, grants and donations. In an effort to increase our ability to raise private funds, we have a new opportunity for a Part-Time Library Development Manager. $26,000/year, 20 hours/week. Position Summary: The Library Development Manager will create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to increase financial support of the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library. The Development Manager works under the supervision of the Library Director. Responsibilities include developing and implementing fundraising campaigns and events of various size and reach, building and improving relationships with current and prospective donors, maintaining the donor database and producing reports as requested, preparing the Annual Fund Appeal, and working with the Library Director and Board of Trustees to draft annual fundraising goals. Head of Facilities and Security - Russell Library, Middletown’s award-winning public library, seeks a Head of our Facilities and Security Department. Maintaining and ensuring a safe environment at a busy downtown library comprised of several buildings, dating as far back as the 1870s, is the major challenge. Applicants should have project management and supervisory experience, hands-on maintenance and repair skills, and knowledge of HVAC systems. The Head of Facilities and Security oversees and performs security services to ensure safety of staff, patrons, and property. The Head of Facilities and Security: Develops near-term and long-range plans and objectives for the department. Responds to emergency situations, requiring residency within 20 minutes driving time. Recommends appointments and trains, supervises and evaluates employees. Oversees the maintenance, cleaning and repair of buildings and grounds. Evaluates the safety and energy efficiency of buildings and recommends repair or replacement. Serves as liaison with architects, engineers, contractors and public officials on building repair and on emergency and security issues. Develops and administers security procedures and serves as security officer while on duty. Recommends and administers department budget. Oversees purchases of equipment, materials, supplies, and vendor contracts. The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with graduation from a vocational technical school, or successful completion of an apprenticeship training program, and five years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance or construction work, including three years of supervisory or lead maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and skills which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience and/or training in security, public safety, or law enforcement are also preferred. Candidate must be flexible about scheduling, have strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to maintain composure in difficult situations, sometimes involving unruly members of the public. MAIN is responsible for the shared catalog, joint purchasing of content and technical support for member libraries. The 30 year old consortium, currently managed by a volunteer Executive Committee, is migrating to an Executive Director management model and now seeks qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The new Executive Director will have the exciting opportunity to launch the M.A.I.N. organization and continue to build it from the ground up. Job Description for Executive Director: The Executive Director of MAIN will report to the consortium’s Executive Board. In that capacity the Director will be responsible for administering all of MAIN’s staff, services and operations. Media Circuits Coordinator - Part-time independent contractor position. Connecticut Library Consortium, a non-profit library service organization, has an opening for this contracted position from October 15, 2014 through June 30, 2015. General position description: Coordinate audiobook, general DVD, and foreign film DVD rotating collections for participating Connecticut libraries, primarily in eastern Connecticut, and attend and manage collection “swap” events. Duties/Requirements: Position requires individual familiar with audiobook and DVD collections who can efficiently manage workflow; process collection materials; maintain policies, procedures and collection database; manage program budget; interface with CLC staff; and provide excellent customer service to circuit participants. Position is based in Willimantic; circuit swaps are held on alternating Wednesdays in Willimantic, East Lyme, or Middletown. 10-15 hours (average) weekly. No benefits.
