Library Assistant - Part Time – The Stonington Free Library seeks an enthusiastic and tech-savy team player with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to the importance of the library in the community. This is a part time position 21 to 24.5 hours per week. Work schedule is Tuesdays 9:30 to 2, Wednesdays 9:30 to 2, Thursdays 9:30 to 6, Fridays 9:30 to 1:30 and Saturday rotations 9:30 to 1. Hourly rate is $14.00. Benefits include sick, holiday and vacation days.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Delivery of excellent customer service to all ages. Assist patrons in person and over the phone. Introduce patrons to all library services, collections and technology. Provide reference services and reader’s advisory. Issue library cards. Check materials in and out. Help manage holds, overdue items and interlibrary loan requests and returns. Collect fines. Provide internet, email, copying, printing and other technology assistance. Update website, social media and community calendars.
Successful candidate must be a team player with strong technology skills, positive attitude, enjoys working with the public, self-motivated, reliable, flexible and able to multi-task. High school diploma and technology skills required. Prior library experience, college degree and familiarity with library technology are a plus.

Summer Library Intern
Mystic & Noank Library The Mystic & Noank Library is seeking a recent tech-savvy MLS graduate or MLS student with excellent customer service skills to work 19 hours a week for eleven weeks (preferably starting the week of June 6). Basic weekly schedule will be: Mondays & Tuesdays, 10 to 1, Wednesdays, 1 to 9, and Thursdays, 10 to 5. Interest in Children’s Programming is required. After two weeks of training, the Intern will be expected to lead a weekly preschool storytime and assist our Head of Youth Services in managing the Summer Reading Program and a variety of Children’s and Teen Programs. Intern will also be asked to assist at the Circulation Desk and to provide Readers Advisory and Reference Services, as needed, to patrons of all ages. service to our youngest library lovers as well as their caretakers and related

enhance and maintain specific collections both physical and digital along with

children's programming that will surprise and delight the attendees and we'd
like you to participate in community outreach to actively promote the library
and children's services. As part of the
children's team you will have the opportunity, at times, to develop and
implement programs at Fairfield Woods Branch, a neighborhood library that is
always filled with creative ideas. As
part of the children's team your days will be filled with inspiration,
collaboration and fun. This position
requires an MLS from an ALA accredited university along with 1-2 years'
experience working as a professional librarian, particularly in Children's
Services including familiarity with technology and readers' advisory. This is a 35 hour a week position which

Substitute Librarian
Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library- has an immediate opening for a part time public services position. The library is located in southeastern Connecticut and is a member of the LION consortium with a shared network using III’s Sierra ILS. We are looking for an individual with excellent reference and customer service skills who enjoys working with all ages to staff both the adult and children’s services as needed. Responsibilities include providing reference and reader’s advisory service for adults, assisting patrons with the use of public computers and services; management of the Children’s Room after school includes children’s reference services, assisting parents and students with research, homework and computer use. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required with a combination of library training and experience indicating ability to perform required duties. Knowledge of automated library systems, experience with current technologies, social media and desktop applications required. Public library experience preferred. Students in an MLS program are encouraged to apply. The position is 10-15 hours per week at $20.00 per hour. No benefits. Part Time Young Adult Librarian - Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library is seeking a creative, energetic Librarian who is proficient with current technologies, excels at outreach and programming for young teens. This individual will have primary responsibility for the development and delivery of Young Adult Services (grades 6-12) including collection development, program planning, outreach to students via the local school district and youth organizations, and policy development. Additional responsibilities include reference and readers’ advisory assistance, bibliographic instruction, computer assistance as well as supervision of after school users on an individual or group basis. The Young Adult Librarian works cooperatively with the full time Children’s Librarian in support of all Children’s Services. This position requires participation once a month in the Saturday rotation at the Adult Services Desk. Performs other duties as required. This is a part time position of 20 hours. Required: ALA-MLS; public library experience with teens and adults preferred. Knowledge of integrated library systems, III’s Sierra preferred. Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, to adapt to changing needs and resources, manage multiple responsibilities and assist with projects as needed. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required. Knowledge of the Microsoft software suite, Word Press and basic Html code preferred. Public library seeking a creative, organized individual to provide service to children (infancy through grade 8), including reference, reader’s advisory, collection development, outreach and programming, in a busy children’s department. Duties include but are not limited to: Provide reader’s advisory and reference assistance to patrons of all ages during regular shifts at the Information Desk – schedule includes evening and Saturday hours. Provide tours of the library and assist children, students and parents in using library services and facilities. Organize, coordinate and present storytimes, school visits, and other educational, cultural and library oriented recreational programs for infants through grade 8. Design and deliver community outreach and special projects.
