Research and Instruction Librarian - Quinnipiac University

Research and Instruction Librarian - The Edward and Barbara Netter Library at Quinnipiac University seeks a dynamic, motivated and service-oriented librarian responsible for developing and delivering innovative information services in the health and basic sciences. The Research and Instruction Librarian supports and collaborates with faculty to integrate electronic information resources into the curriculum. This position will provide innovative library instruction and information literacy programs, including faculty outreach and developing collaborative teaching and learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. The successful candidate will also serve as a liaison to assigned academic departments and provide consultation, technical assistance and creative expertise to tailor instructional resources to faculty and student needs.
     Reporting to the Director, the Research and Instruction Librarian will primarily support the new Frank H. Netter, MD School of Medicine as well as assisting with the School of Health Sciences and the School of Nursing on the Quinnipiac University North Haven Campus.

     Responsibilities: Serve as a library liaison to assigned academic departments to support their curricular and educational needs. Routinely interact and communicate with students and faculty to assess information needs in support of curriculum and research. Provide reference assistance to library users.      Position Focus: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Information Services, and as a member of the larger Research and Education Department, the Clinical Librarian provides point-of-need services and information support to medical professionals at Yale University, in the clinical setting within the Yale New Haven Health System, and at other affiliated clinical sites. The librarian cultivates partnerships between the library and assigned liaison areas in the health sciences through outreach, instruction, collection development, and research support services. The librarian provides innovative services to support research, teaching, and clinical service. The Clinical Librarian will provide in-depth reference, information, research and consultation services for clinical professionals and users in the health sciences community, including literature searches in support of systematic reviews, research, grants, clinical practice, animal use, teaching, and publishing. In addition, they will offer training and support for the identification and retrieval of high-quality evidence for clinical questions and decision-making including the use of databases and mobile apps. The incumbent will create and maintain online guides, learning objects, websites, and other research support tools and collaborate with fellow librarians and other providers of information resources to support research and teaching in general. The librarian will work closely with the Head of Collection Development on acquiring clinical information resources and preparing and promoting them for availability to users. This librarian may be required to periodically meet with, teach classes, and present at or attend morning reports, grand rounds, and other clinically relevant forums in the early morning or evening. Will collaborate with library, university, and hospital personnel on projects including grants, papers, poster presentations, or other creative undertakings. Will support the curricular needs of assigned departments and programs by teaching didactic and hands-on sessions as requested by faculty. Participates in planning and teaching the general library instruction programs. In collaboration with the Research and Education team, identifies, prepares and presents a range of classes on various topics, including biomedical databases, citation management tools and biomedical research strategies.
     Required Education, Skills and Experience: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school. In selected instances, a post-graduate degree in a related discipline may be required or substituted for a master’s degree in library science. Summary of Position: The Director has overall authority and responsibility for the planning, direction, and operation of all administrative and service function of The Lyman Maynard Stowe Library at the UConn Health Center on the Farmington campus of the University of Connecticut. Preservation and Collection Management Librarian - Yale University Medical Library, New Haven

Preservation and Collection Management Librarian - Yale University Medical Library, New Haven. Rank: Librarian 1-3. Part time - 20 hours/week. Position Focus: Reporting to the Yale University Librarian for Medical History and working with the University Library Preservation Department, the Preservation Librarian coordinates all preservation activities within the Historical Medical Collection and the general collections of the Medical Library, including objects housed in the Cushing Center. The Preservation Librarian develops and maintains preservation policies and procedures, and prioritizes preservation needs for the Historical Library. The Preservation Librarian also assists the Librarian for Medical History in the management of the Library’s collections. Implements an in-house care program for the Historical collection. Designs and executes preservation assessments and surveys as needed, and performs minor preservation treatments. Coordinates conservation and preservation treatment for the materials by University Library Preservation Department staff and by outside vendors. Educates staff in preservation issues. Supervises student assistants. Designs exhibitions for Medical Library and Cushing Center spaces including rotation of 3-4 major exhibits per year. Manages exhibit prep and loan activities. Carries out registrarial activities to maintain the collection, incoming and outgoing loans and ensures special care, security, and proper handling. Assists Librarian for Medical History with digital initiatives, including selection and assessment for materials to be digitized. Schedule: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week); Sunday–Thursday, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm; Occasional recess days and holidays required. Position Focus: Reporting to the Head of Access and Delivery Services for the Medical Library, this position provides direct oversight for the library’s evening and weekend access and delivery services. The Manager assists in planning and implementing new services, and supporting and improving existing services. Supervises and works closely with the entire Access and Delivery Services (ADS) Team and student assistants to provide users valuable services that support their information and research needs. Motivates and coaches staff to ensure excellent customer service, cultivates teamwork, and promotes a culture in which change is welcomed and supported. Responsible for a range of managerial duties relating to access and delivery services in the Medical Library. Principal Responsibilities: 1. Manages the daily work of the ADS team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of access services operations, including reserves, document delivery, interlibrary loan and stacks maintenance operations, and all services provided at the circulation and information desks. 2. Supervises 3 FTE Clerical and Technical staff and 4 students. Hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates staff and student assistants. Motivates staff and is responsible for ensuring high quality public services and productivity. 3. Develops, recommends and participates in planning and implementation of new policies and innovative services, and interprets policies for staff.
