Librarian - Hospital of Central Connecticut

Librarian - The Hospital of Central Connecticut, a 414 bed teaching hospital, has a full time opening for a Librarian for the Health Sciences Library. Reporting to the Library Manager, the Librarian provides advanced information services, including reference and computer-based information retrieval. Requires advanced knowledge of several computer-based information retrieval systems, including: computer-accessed resources, e.g., online, networked, and CD ROM databases (e.g., OVID, MEDLARS, EPIC, MEDLINE, CINAHL, HEALTHSTAR); the Internet, including the World Wide Web, telnet, FTP, and electronic mail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classification System and Nomenclature (MeSH). Basic word processing skills. Other responsibilities include participation in education programs, including orientations, library instruction, and computer-based information retrieval instruction. In collaboration with the Library Manager, the Librarian supports departmental planning, collection development, program development and evaluation, and outreach. Minimum requirements include a MLS from an ALA accredited program, and a minimum of one year of experience, preferably in a health sciences library.
