Librarian - Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain

Librarian - The Hospital of Central Connecticut, a 414-bed teaching hospital, seeks a Librarian for a 30 hour/week position in the Medical Library located on the New Britain campus. Reporting to the Library Manager, the Librarian provides advanced information services, including reference and computer-based information retrieval. Participates in education program, including orientations, library instruction, and computer-based information retrieval instruction. Leads and serves as the primary information source for the Hospital’s CME program. In collaboration with the Library Manager, supports departmental planning, interlibrary loan, routine library maintenance, collection development, program development and evaluation, patient education and outreach. Requirements include M.L.S. [ALA-accredited] and 1 year of experience, preferably in a health sciences library. Requires advanced knowledge of several computer-based information retrieval systems, including: computer-accessed resources, e.g., online, networked databases (e.g., OVID, MEDLINE, CINAHL); the Internet. Experience with CME coordination is preferred. Salary range is commensurate with experience; $33,750 for new MLS graduates.
