Librarian, Reference & Instructional Services - St. Joseph College School of Pharmacy, Downtown Hartford. The Pharmacy Librarian will develop and deliver sophisticated information services and resources to the students, faculty and staff of the School. A self-motivated, enthusiastic and user-oriented librarian is being sought to run the library of the new School of Pharmacy. Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to ): Plan and set goals for the Pharmacy Library. Coordinate support services from the main campus library with the daily management of the Pharmacy Library. Provide proactive customer-oriented service, including library instruction, for the School of Pharmacy. Provide general reference services to the School of Pharmacy. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy Library, including setting hours and developing procedures for administering services. Included services are reserves, interlibrary loan and circulation. Develop the collection and manage the budget for the Pharmacy Library. The Pharmacy Librarian will serve as the library liaison to the school faculty. The librarian will be responsible for assembling reports, meeting with the Pharmacy administration, and recommending changes regarding the access to library services and the adequacy of resources. Implement and monitor the technology resources of the Pharmacy Library. Implement automated systems for library material access and assist clients to use these systems. Develops content for the library Web site. Other responsibilities as assigned. Planning, budgeting, and prioritizing multiples tasks. Writes and implements policy under the supervision and approval of the Library Director. Provides graduate-level instruction in and environment of sophisticated technology. Qualifications: Master's of Library Science from an ALA accredited institution required. Professional experience at a medical or health library preferred. Subject background in health or life sciences preferred. Ability to interact effectively with students, co-workers, and external contacts. Organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated teaching ability. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. Solid working knowledge of academic library and reference applications required; familiarity with other specific applications used by the College a plus. Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Grade 24. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
