The library assistant will provide expertise in the implementation and maintenance of the library’s social media program, website and public relations in order to emphasize library services that are available to our patrons using both traditional and virtual communication outlets. Duties include daily updating of website, setting up/operating audio/visual equipment (computers, projectors, microphones, movies, etc.); providing exceptional help desk support for patrons and staff; updating and maintaining computers, iPads, Nooks, and Kindles; rebuilding computers and replacing/repairing peripherals as directed; and other assignments as required. Library Specialist - West Hartford Library

Library Specialist - Part-time (15 hrs per week) $24.51 per hour. Some college preferred. If you enjoy discovering new and better ways of communicating, and have proven web skills, the West Hartford Library needs you. Varied tasks range from assisting in developing and implementing the library's marketing plan, to hanging signs and updating our website. The strongest candidates will have a working knowledge of MS Office products, and will have experience with Adobe's Creative Suite. A background with website development, HTML, social media, blogging, or hands-on experience with content creation software such as WordPress, Drupal, Tumblr is essential. Mostly morning hours, but occasional evening hours will be required. Duties may also include some lifting of chairs/tables for programs, as well as the use of A/V equipment. Municipal Web Librarian - Fairfield Public Library

Municipal Web Librarian - The Fairfield Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Municipal Web Librarian. The position is responsible for coordinating, managing and maintaining the architecture of the Town and Library’s websites and assisting patrons in the use of the library and its many resources. Responsibilities include the maintenance and expansion of the Library’s website as the Library’s Digital Branch; spending 10-12 hours a week on the reference desk assisting patrons; participating in the development and maintenance of the non-fiction collection; designing and/or overseeing the design of Web pages; participating in long range planning and priority goal setting for the Town and Library web environment; playing a leadership role in establishing and coordinating a Town departmental website work group with the goals of sharing information, identifying commonalities, exploring opportunities for consolidating expenses and creating a more cohesive web presence for the Town of Fairfield. The candidate must have strong customer service skills, a thorough knowledge of professional library principles, reference resources and a broad knowledge of current fiction and non-fiction; a working knowledge of Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, online library management systems and various website log analysis tools. The position requires an understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript; browser & usability standards; advanced working knowledge of current scripting languages, layout and design principles, Web servers, Web Browsers, Web 2.0 technologies and software, social networking tools and audio & video web content development. This is a 35 hour per week position, one evening until 9:00pm and approximately one Saturday a month. An MLS from an ALA accredited university and two years experience in web design and maintenance are required, two years experience in reference services preferred. Courses/credentials in web technology are a plus. Salary range: $60,735 - $71,345.
