Municipal Web Librarian - The Fairfield Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Municipal Web Librarian. The position is responsible for coordinating, managing and maintaining the architecture of the Town and Library’s websites and assisting patrons in the use of the library and its many resources. Responsibilities include the maintenance and expansion of the Library’s website as the Library’s Digital Branch; spending 10-12 hours a week on the reference desk assisting patrons; participating in the development and maintenance of the non-fiction collection; designing and/or overseeing the design of Web pages; participating in long range planning and priority goal setting for the Town and Library web environment; playing a leadership role in establishing and coordinating a Town departmental website work group with the goals of sharing information, identifying commonalities, exploring opportunities for consolidating expenses and creating a more cohesive web presence for the Town of Fairfield. The candidate must have strong customer service skills, a thorough knowledge of professional library principles, reference resources and a broad knowledge of current fiction and non-fiction; a working knowledge of Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, online library management systems and various website log analysis tools. The position requires an understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript; browser & usability standards; advanced working knowledge of current scripting languages, layout and design principles, Web servers, Web Browsers, Web 2.0 technologies and software, social networking tools and audio & video web content development. This is a 35 hour per week position, one evening until 9:00pm and approximately one Saturday a month. An MLS from an ALA accredited university and two years experience in web design and maintenance are required, two years experience in reference services preferred. Courses/credentials in web technology are a plus. Salary range: $60,735 - $71,345.
