Metadata and E-Resources Management Librarian - The University of Connecticut School of Law Library, located in Hartford, seeks forward-thinking applicants for the position of Metadata and E-Resources Management Librarian/University Librarian I or II. Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the Metadata Librarian is responsible for describing and providing access to all library resources to all the students, faculty, and staff of the Law School and the University. Electronic Resources Intern - UConn School of Law Library, Hartford

Electronic Resources Intern - UConn School of Law Library in Hartford has an opportunity for an energetic library student interested in gaining electronic resource management experience in an academic setting. Position Description: The Law Library’s electronic collection has grown tremendously in the past five years. The library is also continuing to transition from print to electronic-only format. With the growth in electronic content, the library has recently implemented an electronic resource management (ERM) system along with a knowledgebase and open URL link resolver. The intern will work closely with the Electronic Resources librarian as well as other members of the technical services team. The intern will assist with significant electronic resource management projects and gain a comprehensive understanding of electronic resource management. Opportunities may include: assisting with the troubleshooting of electronic access issues; identifying key information from the review of signed licenses; managing metadata for electronic materials; bulk record editing and loading; providing support and assisting with the guidance of acquisitions staff as they shift to e-only; assist with the implementation of emerging technologies. Qualifications: The successful candidate will be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program from an ALA-accredited program for library and information science. The candidate should possess a strong desire to learn more about electronic resource management and emerging technologies. Drupal experience desired but not required. Familiarity with Innovative Interfaces and Serials Solutions products desired but not required. The intern should be present in the library at least two days a week. Start date and hours per week are flexible. This is an unpaid internship. Loading digital legislative transcript material into ContentDM for permanent public access, and updating a searchable Microsoft Access index for efficient online retrieval. Other tasks dependant on interest and time may include visiting legislative offices to acquire timely legislative documents, tracking bills via CGALites (the Connecticut General Assembly's intranet), attending public hearings that may cover an area of personal interest, archiving previous session bill file material, and special projects as needed. Position coincides with the 2012 regular Legislative session (beginning on February 8 and ending May 9, 2012). Pay rate is currently $10/hr subject to a slight increase. Hours are somewhat flexible to accommodate class/other life commitments Position is funded up to 40 hours per week.
