Library Director
Raymond Library. The Town of East Hartford seeks a Library Director who will continue to bring advancement; and creative, dynamic, visionary programming to our community. He/she engages with patrons, builds partnerships within the community and develops connections with town organizations to ensure programs are aligned with community needs and are effective, and to promote program enrollment. He/she collaborates with the Marketing and Communications Department to develop and execute strategies to build patron engagement and attendance at programs and events and with the Executive Director and with their manager, the Director, Knowledge Curation and Innovation, assesses the quality of programs and ensures alignment with the Library’s mission and priorities. The Programming Manager supervises two staff members. This position remains current on touring authors, new instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to the learning experience and requires an ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends; proven experience coordinating and managing cross-functional teams; successful Event Management experience (in a non-profit or library preferred); prior supervisory experience; strong communications skills both verbally and in writing; proven time management, planning and organizing skills with a strong detail orientation; very strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; flexibility and an ability to thrive in a complex, changing environment with competing demands. Computer skills including with Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint and a Bachelors’ degree are required. Compensation. The position offers a hiring salary range of $72,000 -$75,000 (with placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) and an attractive benefits package. Librarian is responsible for the development, administration, and coordination
of all services for children from birth to age 12. Performs managerial duties in the children’s
department related to staff, library operations, including circulation,
reference and computer functions, programs and special activities. Works closely with school librarians and
community groups to assess, develop and expand children’s services. Bachelor’s degree required. Master of Library
Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited college preferred. A minimum of two years
public library experience in children’s services (or equivalent). A minimum of five years supervisory

Reference Services Internship Program -
West Hartford Public Library The West
Hartford Public Library welcomes applications from MLS candidates for its
internship program. The program has been designed to provide practical,
on-the-job experience to individuals pursuing a career in reference
service. Applicants must have completed at least four graduate level
library science courses before the start date of their internship including a
reference services course. The successful applicant will be paid a
stipend of $4375 for 250 hours of work over approximately 5 months starting in
May. The intern will have the opportunity to shadow librarians at a
fast-paced reference desk and will assist with the implementation of a special
project incorporating our Local History Collection and the national Memories
of Migration project, funded by a national IMLS grant. In addition,
the intern will help with other departmental projects such as collection and
website development, digitization projects, subject bibliographies, and other
projects as assigned. Although the intern will work primarily in the
Adult Division of the Noah Webster Library located at 20 South Main Street,
s/he will do a rotation in each of the library’s two branches as well as other
library divisions to gain a broader understanding of public library operations.
This internship program is funded through the generous support of the West
Hartford Public Library Foundation’s Thomas F. Kilfoil Fund. Eligibility and
requirements: Enrollment in a Master of Library Science Program. Applicants
must have completed at least four courses including a reference services course
before the start date of the internship. Applicants must be eligible to work in
the U.S. The stipend is provided by the West Hartford Public Library Foundation
and will be administered by the school in which the student is enrolled. Schedule

Groton Public Library. The Town of Groton is accepting applications for a full-time, 35 hour per week librarian. The salary range is $26.75 - $30.72 per hour. Master’s Degree in Library Science from a school accredited by the American Library Association is required.
