Programming Manager

If you are a strong collaborator who thrives in a fast– paced environment and wants to contribute to making the Library an interactive, flexible, participatory place then we would love to hear from you! The Westport Library seeks a Programming Manager to work collaboratively with and lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing a diverse array of programs and services that meet and exceed the needs of the community. The Programming Manager uses their knowledge and experience implementing successful programs to help shape the Library’s programming strategy. He/she engages with patrons, builds partnerships within the community and develops connections with town organizations to ensure programs are aligned with community needs and are effective, and to promote program enrollment.  He/she collaborates with the Marketing and Communications Department to develop and execute strategies to build patron engagement and attendance at programs and events and with the Executive Director and with their manager, the Director, Knowledge Curation and Innovation, assesses the quality of programs and ensures alignment with the Library’s mission and priorities. The Programming Manager supervises two staff members.  This position remains current on touring authors, new instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to the learning experience and requires an ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends;  proven experience coordinating and managing cross-functional teams; successful Event Management experience (in a non-profit or library  preferred);  prior supervisory experience; strong communications skills both verbally and in writing; proven time management, planning and organizing skills with a strong detail orientation; very strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; flexibility and an ability to thrive in a complex, changing environment with competing demands. Computer skills including with Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint and a Bachelors’ degree are required. Compensation. The position offers a hiring salary range of $72,000 -$75,000 (with placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) and an attractive benefits package.
