Working under the direction of the Director, Content Curation and Innovation and with the Program Coordinator, the Specialist collaborates with colleagues to develop and execute strategies to build patron engagement and contributes to making the Library an interactive, flexible, participatory and social spaceThe selected candidate will have 3+ years’ related experience. Outstanding interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; the ability to interact with individuals at all levels; a proven track record managing projects and programs as well as excellent planning, organizational, critical and strategic thinking, and problem solving skills are required. Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced changing environment is critical for success as is a willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Associate Director for Collections, Research & Education - Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University, New Haven. Rank: Librarian 4-5. Requisition: 25182. Position Focus: Reporting to the Director of the Beinecke Library and serving as a member of the Library’s senior leadership team, the Associate Director provides strategic leadership for and manages the Library’s Collections, Research & Education Department. The Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan for enhancing and effectively managing the library’s extensive outreach and academic programs for Yale students, faculty and the international scholarly community. In close association with the Director, the Associate Director coordinates the collection development efforts of the Library’s curatorial staff. In conjunction with the Library’s curators, the Associate Director leads the programmatic development and administration of the Library’s fellowship, exhibit and publications programs, master classes, and curatorial organized events and programming including conferences, lectures, symposia, readings and concerts. To foster the effective growth and use of the Library’s collections, the Associate Director develops and maintains strong ties with the University Library, Yale Center for British Art, Yale University Art Gallery, Yale University Press, and faculty at Yale University. As appropriate the Associate Director and the department develops and maintains strong relations with relevant academic fields in order to support the mission of the Beinecke Library. Education, Skills and Experience: Requirements include: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent accredited degree, or a post-graduate degree in museum studies, humanities or other related discipline, and a minimum of 8 years of professional related experience. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction in a research library; have managed staff, budgets and capital projects; have demonstrated understanding of current trends in special collections librarianship and digital humanities; and have a strong commitment to collection building and to innovative public service programs. Preferred: Ph.D. in humanities or related field; experience developing innovative programs and outreach initiatives; experience curating exhibits and managing publication programs. Program and Events Specialist - Westport Library seeks a Program and Events Specialist to plan and implement creative and engaging opportunities for learning and personal growth. The Specialist, working with the Manager of Community Relations and Patron Experience, will use knowledge of active learning, new instructional methods, and modern technology to develop programs that contribute to providing a rich and interactive library experience. The successful candidate will be part of a team managing over 600 events annually. The selected candidate will have 3+ years experience implementing cutting edge programs for adults that demonstrate a participatory and flexible approach to learning and engagement. He/she will have outstanding interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Marketing Intern - Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC), Middletown

Marketing Intern - Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC), Middletown. Part-Time, Unpaid. March - June, 2013. Description: Are you a library student with an interest or background in marketing? CLC is offering an exciting opportunity for a creative and proactive library student to advocate for and serve over 800 Connecticut libraries. The Connecticut Library Consortium is a statewide membership collaborative serving all types of Connecticut libraries by helping them strengthen their ability to serve their users. CLC saved its members over 6 million dollars last year through discounts on materials, supplies, and events, while offering numerous opportunities for networking, collaboration, and learning. The Marketing Intern will assist CLC in creating and distributing advocacy and publicity resources for its members, a list of museums offering passes to libraries, and other promotional materials as needed. The Marketing Intern will also assist CLC staff in planning and staffing CLC events and events at which CLC is exhibiting. This position will be supervised by the Executive Director. This minimum length of the internship is 3 months, though extensions are negotiable. Flexible schedule with the exception of required event attendance. The Marketing Intern will receive academic credit (if requested) and free attendance at the Connecticut Library Association conference in April. Free attendance at other industry events is possible. Responsibilities: Conduct research, create, and design the 2013 Museum Pass Brochure, a list of museums in and around Connecticut offering passes to libraries. Conduct research and create a list of media outlets for CLC member libraries to contact about events, programs, job openings, etc. Assist the Executive Director and Communications Director in creating marketing materials for CLC. Assist the Executive Director and Projects Coordinator in planning and staffing CLC events. Assist the Executive Director and Projects Coordinator in planning and staffing CLC’s exhibitor’s booth at the Connecticut Library Association annual conference. Develop and implement social networking campaigns under supervision. Qualifications: Pursuing MLS/MLIS. An interest or experience in marketing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Research & Instruction Librarian/Special Projects Coordinator - Connecticut College

Research & Instruction Librarian/Special Projects Coordinator - Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college, located in the historic seaport of New London, seeks a highly experienced Librarian to provide instructional and research resources, initiate and develop activities to integrate research instruction into the curriculum, provide reference services for the faculty, students, scholars and other patrons by selecting information resources to support their instructional and scholarly needs. In this position the librarian/coordinator will also manage special projects and provide key departmental administrative support to the office of the Vice President for Information Services and Librarian of the College as well as serve as a member of the IS Leadership Team. S/he will be responsible for providing professional leadership in the design and provision of use of library outreach materials; assist, advise, and instruct faculty and students in the access and use of scholarly information through research consultations and reference desk service; act as a liaison to academic departments providing research instruction and discipline-specific reference assistance to faculty and students in these departments; develop library print and digital instructional materials to support general and subject-specific research and instruction; collaborate with faculty and colleagues to plan sessions for course-integrated library instruction and develop supporting materials and guides; manage and complete surveys, reports, marketing publications, events, planning and other activities as assigned; serve on College wide committees and task forces as necessary. Master’s degree, obtained from an ALA accredited program, in library and information studies with 3-5 years relevant experience required. Particular attention will be given to applicants with subject expertise in English, American Literatures, and film studies. Candidates must demonstrate effective teaching, presentation, and communication skills and knowledge of established and emerging instructional methods and technologies. Project management experience and a strong understanding of trends in librarianship and higher education is a must. Ability to build and sustain relationships within the College community and enthusiasm for public service, teaching, and student learning are essential. Children’s Library Specialist - West Hartford Public Library

Children’s Library Specialist - West Hartford Public Library seeks an enthusiastic part-time Children’s Library Specialist to develop and present exceptional programming for children age’s birth through fifth grade. The candidate will plan and conduct storytime programs that include music and movement, puppetry and crafts, will visit preschool and elementary schools, participate in a Summer Reading Skit, offer Book Clubs and programs for school-age children. Training in the Mother Goose on the Loose Early Literacy Program is a plus. We are looking for someone with an extensive knowledge of children’s literature, a background in successful programming in a library or educational setting, an understanding of child development and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will work with a dedicated Children’s Services team in a very busy library. She/he will possess creativity, energy, flexibility and a good sense of humor, will provide exceptional public service, have solid organizational skills and maintain a positive attitude. The candidate must be able to communicate and enjoy working with children from birth through fifth grade, as well as their parents. Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in education or related field and experience in a library/educational setting. Preferred: Masters in Library Science. Speaking fluency in a language other than English that is used in the local community. This is a year-round position of 6 hours per week primarily during the mornings and afternoons, however, evenings and weekends may be expected. Minimum hourly salary: $25.50 hourly. Marketing & Special Events Director - Kent Memorial Library, Kent

Marketing & Special Events Director - Kent Memorial Library in Kent seeks an individual to 1) develop programs for adults that meet the Library’s mission and service responses; 2) market overall library services; and 3) oversee art exhibits. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential as is knowledge of the basic principles of marketing and promotion of programs and events. Creative thinking is vital along with a warm welcoming attitude. Computer literacy required; desktop publishing and familiarity with modern communication methods such as Facebook and blogs a plus. Bachelor’s degree required with marketing, PR, advertising, journalism or communications preferred; some public library and/or non-profit experience preferred; demonstrated experience in producing news releases, newsletters, flyers, annual reports and programs. Ability to work under short time constraints and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities & with minimal supervision essential. Sixteen (16) regularly scheduled hrs/wk including some weekends with additional hours as needed for programs. Salary commensurate with experience.
