Youth Services Librarian(s) - Want to help strengthen neighborhoods and build community? Providence Community Library is seeking a Youth Services Librarian to work in a busy, neighborhood library. The Youth Services Librarian plans and implements a comprehensive program of service, especially emergent literacy, to young library users, and may provide professional support to more than one neighborhood library. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Selecting and purchasing library materials aimed at children and teens; Planning, developing, coordinating and executing programs designed to serve children from infants to teens; Providing reader’s advisory and reference assistance to parents, teachers and caregivers; Promoting the development of pre-literacy and literacy skills in children and teens; Assisting patrons, particularly children and teens, in researching information on a wide variety of subjects; Acting as liaison with other agencies in the community, which serve children and teens, to promote the library; Creating a welcoming environment in the Youth Services area which provides for enjoyable and productive use of library resources. Providence Community Library is preparing to start a strategic planning initiative in 2017 that seeks to strengthen services to meet the needs of its diverse and dense urban neighborhoods. The Office of Library and Information Services is seeking a Library Program Specialist II to serve as Adult Services Coordinator. This new position also includes work in the area of library development. Director - Warwick Public Library (RI), a Rhode Island leader in library services, seeks a highly-skilled administrator to serve as its next Director. Chief Executive Officer - Providence Public Library (RI). The Library Board seeks an engaged, energetic leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer—finalizing and implementing a new strategic plan—to build on its outstanding service programs and achieve further levels of excellence. Responsibilities. Reporting to the Providence Public Library Board of Trustees, the CEO serves as the leader of the Library and is its primary public representative. The CEO works in partnership with the Board to ensure that the Library fulfills its mission and creates the strategies that will secure its future success. The CEO serves under the general supervision of the Board but works with a high degree of independence and is responsible for the overall administration of day-to-day operations; fiscal management; planning; development and fundraising; fostering community relationships; maintaining programmatic effectiveness; and providing ongoing support and leadership for the Library staff, Library Board and Foundation. ILS System Administrator - Ocean State Libraries, Inc. Position Summary: The System Administrator: Through in-depth knowledge of the OSL network and its services, this person oversees all aspects of the ILS management and works with the Executive Director to assure that OSL members obtain the fullest possible benefits from their use of the OSL system. This professional position has primary responsibility for design, implementation and prosecution of the OSL Integrated Library system, including all system revisions and updates. This person also oversees all telecommunications decisions. The individual will develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and will contribute to and maintain system standards.
This senior level position reports to the Executive Director. Knowledge/Skills: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, with a minimum of four years system administration experience. Librarian - The Wheeler School, in Providence RI, seeks a librarian for the Middle/Upper School program in the Prescott Library. The librarian who fills this position will report to the Head of the Upper School and will be responsible for planning, in conjunction with subject area teachers, scheduling and instructing grades 9-12 library related information literacy skills through library resource based research projects; regularly update the skills scope and sequence; provide individual assistance to students and faculty for information seeking purposes or independent reading and viewing interests; in coordination with the middle school librarian evaluate, select and acquire materials to support the curriculum; participate in the budget planning process with the N-12 Library Department Head with respect to the upper school program; assist with collection management including the ongoing evaluation of the collection for weeding purposes; assist in the administration and management of all information and library database technology; help to create and sustain a positive work atmosphere in the library; other duties. Library Director - Search Re-opened. Tiverton [Rhode Island] Library Services Board of Trustees seeks an experienced leader for the position of Library Director. Under the direction of a seven member Board of Trustees, the Director provides leadership to and is responsible for the administration and operations of the Essex Public Library and Union Public Library which make up Tiverton Library Services. Tiverton, RI is a coastal community with a population of approximately 15,000 residents. The Director will be expected to work with a highly motivated staff continuing to provide exceptional library services to the community, and to work with the Trustees, Library Building Committee, Library Foundation, Friends Group and others to coordinate a library building project and capital campaign. Tiverton recently received an appropriation for land acquisition where plans to build a new library facility are underway.
