Substitute Librarian - Russell Library, Middletown. $23.18 per hour. Carry out reference and reader advisory service in Information Services. Work under the general supervision of the Department Head, who provides policies, procedures and guidance, and evaluates job performance. DUTIES: The American Library Association is seeking a full-time Project Editor for Choice magazine, a monthly review journal. Responsibilities include the oversight of the ongoing editorial development of Resources for College Libraries (RCL), a core collection of recommended titles for academic library collections available in print and Web formats. Recruit, supervise, and coordinate 300+ member editorial team of subject editors and bibliographers (teaching faculty and academic librarians). Primary liaison with business partner regarding software development (for both content development and end product), product promotion, and marketing. Develop and implement RCL editorial policies and procedures in coordination with Choice Editor & Publisher, Editorial Director, and RCL Editorial Board. Project Manager - Conservation ConneCTion / CT State Library

Project Manager - A project manager to be based out of the Connecticut State Library is sought to manage the Conservation ConneCTion: a statewide conservation planning initiative project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This is a part-time contracted position, ranging from 15 to 25 hours per week, with modest travel required within Connecticut. The start date is immediate, and the position will continue through September 30, 2009. Compensation will depend upon experience and level of involvement, with a maximum compensation of $40,000 over 16 months. Benefits are not included. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, organize, and facilitate grant activities. Work with and support the statewide planning team. Collect and compile previous conservation surveys. Survey the Conservation needs of collecting institutions. Write (with the assistance of the planning team) a White Paper on the state of conservation in Connecticut. Identify staff training and education needs. Identify conservation expertise within the state and region. Identify institutions that have done emergency planning. Identify significant items and collections in need of conservation and digitization. Develop a mentoring plan. Plan a symposium on conserving collections in Connecticut. Qualifications: 3+ years experience in museum, library, or archives with an emphasis on conservation/preservation. Demonstrated project management skills. Knowledge and familiarity with key issues impacting conservation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience leading and facilitating training or professional development programs. Children's/Program Librarian

Children's/Program Librarian - needed on a temporary part-time basis for a small library serving a community of 5,600 in the lower Naugatuck River valley. Individual should be friendly, outgoing and committed to giving fine customer service. Duties include preparing and delivering a single pre-school story time with age-appropriate craft twice each week (Thursdays at 5:30 P.M. and Fridays at 10:30 A.M.), occasional craft programs on Saturday A.M. for elementary school-aged children, and planning, delivering and/or arranging for adult/YA programming. Individual will also provide circulation desk coverage, reference services, and maintain library shelves, etc. as needed. Depending upon length of employment, individual should expect to open or close the building and may occasionally work alone. The library is automated by the Follett Circulation Plus system for small libraries. The 19-hour per week position pays $11.00 per hour and includes no benefits. The position's duration is unknown.
