Access Services Supervisor - University of New Haven

Access Services Supervisor - University of New Haven Library seeks a manager with library experience to lead the Access Services team in providing exceptional service to our faculty and students. The Access Services Supervisor has overall responsibilities of the department including circulation services, course reserves; stack maintenance, and providing assistance to students utilizing the various technologies in the Library. This position is expected to contribute to an innovative and collaborative approach to user-centered services and collections ensuring that the full range of services is consistently and reliably provided. Hires, trains and evaluates staff and student workers. Monitors and assesses department’s productivity and quality of output/work performed; Provides staff growth and development opportunities; Investigates and evaluates new products to improve workflow and provide better services; Ensures that patron accounts are properly maintained, and that circulation policies are consistently implemented; handles patrons’ issues or complaints; Supervises the course reserve collection; Ensures that students are supported in utilizing Library services, such as laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, photocopiers, etc.; Supervises weeding, shelving, shifting and shelf reading of the monographic and serial collections; Keeps detailed statistics of all departmental activities; Prepares monthly activity reports and other evaluative reports as assigned; Participates in establishing policies/standards/guidelines/procedures for the formulation of the Library’s priorities and the achievement of the Library’s goals. This position reports to the University Librarian and requires flexibility in scheduling including evening and weekend hours and schedule changes when necessary. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required along with 2-3 years of Supervisory experience. Knowledge of and experience with integrated library systems is required; familiarity with the Voyager system preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is essential and familiarity of OCLC is helpful. The ability to train staff and student employees, including on-going skills development is necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary as is the capability to learn and implement new technologies and train staff to utilize them. A firm commitment to providing exceptional service to UNH faculty and students is absolutely essential as is a demonstrated ability to work collegially and professionally with all levels of staff.
