Head Children/Teen Services Librarian - Enfield Public Library. Full-Time Position Vacancy. Salary Range- $48,062-$65,860. General Statement of Duties: Provides reference to youth, parents, and caregivers. Develops library collection. Supervises planning and programs for children and teens. Provides readers advisory and acts as liaison with schools, daycare and homeschoolers. Provides homework center management and offers youth based innovative technology initiatives. Keeps current with new trends in library planning and services. Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Director of Libraries within general procedural and policy guidelines. Supervision Exercised: Directly supervises the Coordinator of Children's Services, Children/Teen Librarian and Library Assistants as assigned. Essential Job Functions: Regular & punctual attendance; supervises all aspects of children's and teen services; handles children and teen collection development; manages children and teen programming including the work of the Children's Coordinator; manages Pearl Street homework/computer center; outreaches to the schools and community groups for children and teen services. Performs other duties as necessary. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: Knowledge of professional library methods, as well as children's and teen literature and reference resources and practices; highly self-motivated, creative and flexible with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; ability to work with children and teens both individually and in groups; ability to deal effectively with parents, teachers and school principals. Must be expertly proficient in the use of the computer, especially with regards to web and bibliographic resources. Personal Attributes: Ability to deal with associates and the public in a courteous manner with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well with individuals; neat personal appearance; must demonstrate initiative and good judgement; pleasing manner. Experience and Training: Requires Master's Degree in Library Science, plus four years of specialized library experience. Must have supervisory experience.
