SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Adult Learning Administrative Assistant ensures a smooth entry of all division data into online data/case management systems. Monitors all administrative policies and procedures for effective delivery of services. Administers immigration and U.S. passport applications. May interfaces with Department of Homeland Security customer service staff and adjudication officers. This position ensures the highest level of confidentiality and service is provided to all customers. Saturday and evening hours required. Collects, inputs and tabulates data; and prepares annual and monthly statistical and fiscal reports. Works closely with legal counselors and instructors to track and update client/student demographic information. Coordinates trainings for department staff, volunteers, and interns. Oversees the activities of mailing and cashiering; ensures all equipment, materials and supplies are ordered and software subscriptions are maintained to meet required inventories, collects and submits contractor invoices. Oversees Passport Application services and executes passport applications. Supports legal counselors by collecting and organizing client documents; executes immigration applications as assigned. May interpret and translate for clients in languages other than English. Proctors GED Testing and other examinations as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Must be a United States citizen or U. S. national to apply and cannot hold any position which may result in a conflict of interest. Note: Applicant must be approved by the Department of State and must obtain passport certification within two months of hire. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. Two years prior experience in business operations and handling of cash and other receipts is required. Solid working knowledge of all MS Office suite software and online case management systems is required. Spanish language fluency preferred. Knowledge of Passport Agency and immigration procedures and processing preferred. Must be detail oriented and confidential. Prior experience working with a diverse community. Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills. Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs is preferred. Strong commitment to working within a team environment is required. Ability to provide welcoming and effective customer service. Ability to work independently. Ability to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision. Ability to work a varied schedule inclusive of evenings and weekends. Ability to create clear and concise reports, and to deliver them orally to a wide variety of audiences. Adult Learner Assistant (part-time)

Hartford Public Library Adult Learning Assistant G IV Bargaining Unit Reporting to the Adult Learning Services Manager, the Adult Learning Assistant is responsible for the support of Hartford Public Library’s mission & core values. This includes: providing classroom and online educational support; community outreach; data collection and tabulation; and U.S. Passport Services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PUBLIC SERVICE Register and test adult literacy/ESOL students; document progress. Instruct students, tutors, and others in use of e-Learning tools. Provide educational support material for students; recommend library related programs; make referrals to outside agencies. Support teachers with instruction and classroom preparation. Serve as liaison to targeted populations and their families at community centers, social service agencies, schools and churches; provide information about adult learning opportunities and full range of library services. Develops and presents library sponsored programs for all age groups including working with educators for class visits and library instruction. Assist customers with navigating the Internet efficiently and effectively. Provide immigration counseling upon completion of training and certification (training will be provided). Serve as a Passport Agent (training will be provided). Provide translation and interpreter services for Spanish speaking customers. Handle program and event preparations and logistics. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT: Process books and other materials. ADMINISTRATIVE Prepares daily, monthly, and annual reports as required. Participates in the overall administration of Hartford Public Library through committee or taskforce assignments. Maintains an inventory of supplies and prepares a supply request at regular intervals. Perform other duties as required. PROFESSIONAL: Reads professional journals regularly. Maintains membership in professional organizations and actively participates as work and personal time allow.Serves on professional and community committees/boards where appropriate. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.Previous Library experience highly desirable. In accordance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security directives this position requires possession of U.S. citizenship. Kidspace Library Clerk/PT

Windsor Public Library. The Windsor Public Library is seeking a knowledgeable, tech-savvy part-time library clerk with a strong commitment to serving children and their caregivers to join our Kidspaceteam. Responsibilities include reference, reader’s advisory and computer assistance at the busy Kidspace desk; shelving and shelf-reading of materials and additional projects as needed. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, passionate about literacy, team-spirited, motivated, and organized; communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse customers and coworkers; and be able to work in a fast paced, customer service environment with patience, flexibility and attention to detail. Minimum requirements: One (1) or more years library experience working with children; comfort working with computers, technology and social media: proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed; familiarity with specific applications (i.e. Innovative Interfaces ILS, Excel and Publisher), a plus. Hours are Monday 5PM-9PM, Tuesday 9AM-1PM and Thursday 5PM-9PM, one Sunday 2PM-5PM per month plus substitution. Salary is $13.00/hour.
