Youth Services Librarian, Park Branch (Full Time) - Hartford Public Library

The Youth and Family Services Librarian is responsible for a variety of library services for youth from birth through age 19 and their families.

The Youth Services Librarian helps plan and implement strategies for delivery of youth services throughout the
library system; orders and promotes children's and teen materials (print and media) for the library system; participates in delivery, promotion, and evaluation of youth programs; creates and conducts tours and bibliographic instruction for children and their caregivers and teachers through our Boundless partnership with Hartford City Schools; works with and provides outreach to youth-serving city agencies, schools, and organizations; and assists in writing and implementing grants. This position also assists with routine library duties such as checking materials in and out, creating library cards, assisting with reference questions and reader’s advisory. Required to supervise branch staff in the absence of the branch or senior manager. Requires time on the public service desk each day. Works one evening a week, Saturdays in rotation, and a few Sundays a year.

Required: Master's in Library Science or Master's in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution required. Minimum one-year experience working with youth. The Mid York Library System (NY) seeks a strategic thinker with library management experience and excellent communication skills to be its next Executive Director. The Mid York Library System (MYLS) is a nonprofit organization that promotes and assists all 43 public libraries in Herkimer, Oneida, and Madison counties in New York. Part Time Reference and Public Services Adjunct Librarian Pool - Southern Connecticut State University

Southern Connecticut State University Library Services is seeking part time librarians for a public services adjunct pool for possible work during Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Archival Engagement Associate - Wilton Library

Wilton Library seeks a processing archivist who is also interested in community engagement through programming and social media to join our staff as a part-time Archival Engagement Associate. Education and Skills Required: Holds an MLIS degree including formal coursework in processing archival collections [and an undergraduate degree in Music, preferably with a concentration in Jazz Studies, or equivalent experience/domain knowledge]. Prior experience processing archival collections which can include paraprofessional, student, volunteer, or internship experience. Familiarity with archival metadata standards including Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Describing Archives: a Content Standard (DACS). Experience with Digital Archive software (especially CollectiveAccess) preferred. Exhibits a proven ability to interact with the public, has excellent organizational, project management, technology, and interpersonal skills.

Experience and demonstrated competence in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram). Experience with digital archive software (especially CollectiveAccess) a plus.

Instruction & Information Literacy Librarian - University of Bridgeport

The Wahlstrom Library seeks a dynamic, experienced Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian to work 4 or 5 days a week for 12 months a year. Cultivating relationships with students and faculty, the Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian develops and implements an effective plan for Library Instruction and Information Literacy that is aligned with University goals, accreditation requirements, and best practices.

The incumbent develops and delivers curriculum and teaching materials to support a broad range of instructional activities. By encouraging collaborative partnerships, this Librarian works to embed information literacy instruction and assessment in the curriculum, Canvas, and classroom teaching.

As a member of the General Education Committee, the Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian will be an advocate and expert for information literacy across the campus. He/she supports academic programs such as business, humanities, education, engineering and technology, social sciences, and criminal justice at the undergraduate and graduate level.

This individual works with the Health Sciences Librarian to offer consistent support for the university.

The Connecticut State Library (CSL), has (1) available opportunity for a Librarian 1 - State Library within the Cataloging Unit, at the State Library's main facility in Hartford. The Cataloging Unit provides high quality original and derivative cataloging records in support of these services and regularly contributes holdings to authoritative international databases through its participation in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) as administered by the Library of Congress.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, First Shift. For the initial test period, work will be in the office Monday-Thursday, and remote telework on Friday. After the test period, work will be half in-office, and half telework. Alternative Work Schedule (“flextime”) will be available after the test period.

THE ROLE: The Cataloging Unit is responsible for processing and labeling print and microfilm materials. The Connecticut State Library participates in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) Library Consortium, which uses the ExLibris Alma library management software and Primo patron online catalog and discovery platform. Under the general supervision of the Unit Head, Cataloging, and in collaboration with other members of the Unit, the Librarian 1 position is responsible for creating and maintaining a catalog of the Library’s collection in order to describe the Library’s holdings, and to provide accurate access for the public, with a specialty in original and copy cataloging of official publications of the United States Government as provided through the Federal Depository Library Program, and in original cataloging of Connecticut Network (CT·N) video presentations. Other original and advanced copy cataloging assignments may include historical, legal, and cartographic materials. The Librarian 1 will serve as backup to the Cataloging Unit Library Technician for physical processing and labeling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE: A Master's degree in library science or information science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) cataloging system. Experience using the ExLibris library management system. Experience cataloging or creating inventory for government documents. Experience cataloging or creating inventory for material in video or cartographic formats.

Senior Library Assistant: Project Lab (Makerspace), FT – Bethel Public Library

The primary responsibilities of this position are to work in the Project Lab (Makerspace); providing public access to the equipment and space, and programming to the public. This position will require the ability to troubleshoot issues and repair equipment. The candidate needs to be organized and detail oriented with a passion for working with all ages. The Project Lab (Makerspace) is not currently open to the public for services hours and this position will work under the direction of the Library Director to create and execute a plan for the future of the space.

The Senior Library Assistant will also provide services to the public at all service desks throughout the library under the direction of the Reference & Technology Librarian; assists technical services, and requires evening and weekend hours as part of the regular work schedule.
