The New Haven Free Public Library is seeking part-time librarians in multiple departments. This position is an amazing opportunity for current librarians looking for extra experience with convenient evening and weekend hours or Library Science students nearing graduation who are interested in getting hands-on experience in a vibrant urban library setting. The City of New Haven and the New Haven Free Public Library have launched many Librarian's careers from this position. This position is highly public-focused and requires weekend hours.
Assignment in Young Minds & Family Learning (1 vacancy): This entails developing and delivering programs for children age 0-12 with an emphasis on early childhood programming, with a strong knowledge of children's literature, and providing a variety of information services for parents and children.
Assignment in Adult Services / Reference (1 vacancy): Will plan, develop, and deliver a wide range of programs for adults in the New Haven community. The ideal candidate will have programming and collection management experience, creativity, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; maintain a professional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and value teamwork.

A Masters Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution is required for this position. Library Science students within 1 semester of completing their coursework at an ALA-accredited institution will be considered for employment at the rate of $18/hour, to be updated to the full $21/hour upon completion of their MLIS degree program.
