Wilton Library seeks a processing archivist who is also interested in community engagement through programming and social media to join our staff as a part-time Archival Engagement Associate. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in music, especially jazz, and is detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
As the stewards of this premiere jazz archive, the Brubeck Collection team works together to manage and expand the Collection’s physical and digital components while leveraging its location at Wilton Library for enhanced programming and community engagement all of which reflect the library’s mission to inform, enrich, connect, and inspire every day. A collaborative attitude is essential as well as the ability to focus on independent tasks and projects.
Reporting to the Curator of The Brubeck Collection, the Archival Engagement Associate will assist the Archivist with processing the physical and digital collections and work with the Curator to expand the Collection’s programming while establishing and developing the Collection’s online presence through social media.
Summary of Responsibilities: As part of the Brubeck Collection team, assists with the processing of physical and digital materials, the development and implementation of related programs, and building the Collection’s online presence through social media.

Education and Skills Required: Holds an MLIS degree including formal coursework in processing archival collections [and an undergraduate degree in Music, preferably with a concentration in Jazz Studies, or equivalent experience/domain knowledge]. Prior experience processing archival collections which can include paraprofessional, student, volunteer, or internship experience. Familiarity with archival metadata standards including Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Describing Archives: a Content Standard (DACS). Experience with Digital Archive software (especially CollectiveAccess) preferred. Exhibits a proven ability to interact with the public, has excellent organizational, project management, technology, and interpersonal skills.
Experience and demonstrated competence in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram). Experience with digital archive software (especially CollectiveAccess) a plus.
