Responsibilities: The CEO reports to the Board of Trustees and oversees a nationally recognized library system. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of progressively responsible management experience in a complex, professional organization. Additional skills include political acumen, strong communication skills, the ability to think and plan strategically, the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders and demonstrated proficiency in fiscal management. Experience in a public library with multiple locations, reporting to a governing board, embracing a multicultural environment, and collective bargaining experience are desired qualifications.

Compensation: The hiring salary range is $170,000 – $210,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package.

We are seeking a full-time Member Services Support Technician to join our growing team. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing direct technical support for the hardware and software used in the day-to-day operations of member libraries; supporting member-facing programs and services; and managing the routine maintenance of third-party vendor products offered through LCI.

This is a remote position with regular travel to member libraries to provide support as necessary. LCI supplies all employees with a company-owned cell phone and computer. Scholarly Communications, Research and Instruction Librarian - Quinnipiac University

JOB SUMMARY: Greenhouse Studios at the University of Connecticut is accepting applications for a Post MLIS/MIS/Ph.D. Postdoctoral Research Associate with an anticipated start date of October 2023.

As an innovative research unit located within the UConn Library, Greenhouse Studios also provides opportunities for research associates to interact with cross-disciplinary partners while exploring new methods for research, experimentation, collaboration, and publication of information. Greenhouse Studios is a joint effort of the UConn Library, the School of Fine Arts, and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, with each contributing resources and personnel to advance scholarly communications research. The Derby Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support Library personnel and operations. The part-time Library Assistant provides excellent customer service and reader’s advisory assistance to Library patrons, provides assistance with computer technology and digital content and has the duties and responsibilities set forth in the attached job description.

Part-Time Shelver - Darien Library

The Materials Management Department at Darien Library has a part-time position open on our shelving team. We are seeking an energetic and organized individual who will work efficiently to keep the Library collections in order.

The shelving team is responsible to manage all of the returned library materials (averaging 1000 per day) and return them to the shelves quickly, efficiently, and in good order. Our unique automated materials handling system helps by checking in and sorting items. Shelvers are responsible to learn how to work with the automated system and troubleshoot problems when they occur. Other duties include performing inventory projects and managing holds.

Salary Range: $88,230 - $113,847

Qualifications: A Master's of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution; four (4) years post-master's library experience focused on children's services, plus two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or demonstrated experience seeing a project from inception to completion.

Librarian I, Adult Services - New Britain Public Library

Reports To: Head of Adult Services
Starting Salary: $27.90 per hour
Schedule: Part-time position (20 hrs/wk) that includes at least one evening per week and alternate Fridays and Saturdays

Qualifications: A Master's of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is required; related professional library experience is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish, Polish and/or another language prevalent in New Britain in addition to English, is helpful. Valid CT driver's license and ability to travel to other locations is required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs professional library tasks in order to ensure customer access to information and library resources to meet the needs of the community. Work may include the selection of materials, organization of information and materials, program development and delivery, instruction, research, reference and reader's advisory service under the direction of a Department Head. The responsibilities are professional, requiring decision-making, independent judgment and a thorough grounding in library science and an in-depth knowledge of his/her area of specialization.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Plans and implements techniques for increasing access and use of materials. Participates in collection development by selecting materials for acquisition and weeding older materials from the collection. Performs reference interviews and responds to requests in person, on the phone, by e-mail and in writing. Utilizes a wide range of print and non-print resources, including electronic databases and the Internet to locate appropriate information. Provides reader's advisory service to link customers with materials in their area of interest. Carries out library policies, rules and procedures and assists in their evaluating their effectiveness, efficiency and contribution to customer service. Represents the Library at meetings and workshops as assigned. Performs other related work as assigned.

Archives Processing and Metadata Specialist, part-time - Fairfield University

BASIC FUNCTION: Assists in the initial processing of physical materials through the creation of indexes and inventories; supports digitization projects through the scanning of artifacts, renaming and/or reformatting of files, and creation of metadata spreadsheets for batch uploads; manages the workflow for the ingest of digitized and born-digital materials into the library’s institutional repository DigitalCommons@Fairfield. Assists the Archives staff with daily activities, exhibits, and special projects. Supervises student employees.

UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Physical requirements: mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelf. Requires some evening and weekend hours.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Two years previous library or related experience. Familiarity with computer systems required. Attention to detail and accuracy important. Written and oral communication skills a plus. Ability to work independently or in a team; knows when to ask questions. Proficient in handling multiple workflows and projects. Experience with digital asset management systems and data entry and/or metadata creation preferred.
