Head of Children’s Library Services - Greenwich Library


Reports To: Information Services Manager
Salary Range: $88,230 - $113,847

Qualifications: A Master's of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution; four (4) years post-master's library experience focused on children's services, plus two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or demonstrated experience seeing a project from inception to completion.

Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises the work of the children’s services team. Evaluates and recommends digital, electronic and print products for children in order to ensure a balanced and appropriate collection; determines which materials should be promoted. Ensures excellent customer service and assists patrons with the use of library materials and equipment to find age-specific information. Coordinates outreach to public and private schools in the community to target and deliver library services for children ages 0 - 12. Serves as a liaison with Friends groups and Board committees. 
Plans and oversees library programs for age-specific groups of children. Negotiates and facilitates contracts with vendors and oversees the delivery of services. Prepares budget requests for materials and programming related to children’s services and ensures expenditures remain within budget. Provides coverage for the essential responsibilities of the supervising manager during their absence. Keeps current with professional publications, participates in professional dialogues, and regularly updates self-knowledge of information resources and library-related technology developments related to children’s services. Supports Town policies and philosophies. Note: Some evening and weekend/alternate hours required.
