Technical Services and Systems Librarian - Cyrenius H. Booth Library, Newtown

Technical Services and Systems Librarian - Cyrenius H. Booth Library, Newtown, is seeking an energetic, friendly, knowledgeable librarian to head our Technical Services department and to serve as our Systems Librarian. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a high energy, rapidly changing position that supports patrons and staff in all areas of library service. Reporting to the Library Director, primary responsibilities include management and supervision of the technical services department and the management of the library’s computer network. Sample duties include ordering, processing and cataloging of adult collections; collection development and maintenance in areas of adult fiction, adult audiovisual and eCollections; developing and maintaining relationships with our library consortium as well as our network support and technical vendors; routine and emergency troubleshooting of all library network equipment; staff training; technology planning in conjunction with our network support vendor. Position requirements include MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program; strong written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge of best library and systems practices; experience with networking software, wireless systems, website applications, and social media. Knowledge of the Evergreen ILS is highly desirable. This is a 35-hour per week, full-time position. Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekend hours possible.
