Library Director - Avon Free Public Library. The Town of Avon is currently seeking an energetic, knowledgeable and capable director with a strong public service commitment to administer, direct and manage the functions, activities and operations of the Avon Free Public Library. This individual will be asked to lead its talented and experienced staff in a newly expanded and renovated facility (41,000 sq. ft). The Library serves as the heart of the community providing information, literature, educational support, technology, culture and the arts. The Town of Avon (population 18,200) is located in the Farmington Valley, approximately 10 miles west of Hartford. The Avon Free Public Library is an association library and serves as a town department. The director submits policy, program and procedural recommendations to the Library Board of Directors and to the Town Manager as appropriate. Town operating budget for FY13: $1.4M.
