Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian - The University of Bridgeport.
Reporting to the University Librarian, this position works closely with
the academic community to develop and implement an effective plan for
Library Instruction and Information Literacy that is aligned with
University direction, accreditation requirements, and best practices.
The Library utilizes a state of the art, Ex Libris suite of library
software, including Primo and Primo Central Discovery tools. The
incumbent develops and delivers curriculum and teaching materials to
support a broad range of instructional activities that includes working
to embed information literacy instruction in the curriculum, classroom
teaching, and development of assessment measures. He/she supports all
academic programs, including undergraduate, graduate, Continuing and
Professional Studies, and the health science programs. DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with Library Management to lead UB
Information Literacy initiatives within an outcomes assessment model;
Coordinates with Faculty to produce embedded curriculum content and
assessment tools in print and electronic format. This includes provision
of material for Blackboard, online tutorials, other e-learning delivery
systems, and assessment systems; Delivers Information Literacy
instruction as needed to faculty, students in workshops/classroom; Works
on committees and task teams on and off campus to represent Information
Literacy/Library; Measures the effectiveness of instruction program and
provides management reports; Works closely with Reference Librarians to
coordinate activities and develop consistent IL support; Answers
Reference Questions via phone, email, chat, via Wimba, or by
appointment; Works closely with Digital Content Specialist, Library
Systems Administrator, and SFX administrator; Other work related duties
as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Library or Information
Science. 2 years experience in Information Literacy function in an
Academic Library is preferred; Proficient in Information Literacy
concepts (ACRL & Accreditation Associations), teaching
methodologies, and assessment; Experience in curriculum design;
Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office, database services and Internet
searching; Experience using a Learning Management System preferred;
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish good working
relationships with colleagues/students; Excellent presentation skills,
including speaking to groups. Strong teaching skills and experience in
classroom instruction; Demonstrated ability to work in teams, be
flexible and ability to acquire new skills; Strong service orientation;
Experience in evidence based librarianship (EBL) or medicine (EBM)
