Associate University Librarian - University of Bridgeport. Summary: The Associate University Librarian plays a vital role in providing strategic direction and operational oversight for the Library, to ensure that University goals are achieved. This includes oversight of Library Project planning and progress. As part of the senior management team, a key job responsibility is preparation and monitoring of all budget processes. The incumbent directly manages staff and procedures/policies for Reference, Access Services, and Technical Services, as well as oversight of work study students. He/she assumes the important role of Collection Development Officer to ensure that the Library maintains a balance of appropriate resources as it moves to a more digital delivery focus. Related to this shift, space allocation and physical planning are an important component of the position. Duties & Responsibilities: Provides research information and management reports to University Librarian to assist in decision making. Oversees budget lifecycle, establishing processes and forms using electronic tools. Supervises Reference, Access Services, and Technical Services. Acts as Collection Development Officer, working closely with Technical Services Head. Responsible for space planning. Consulting with Library staff and the University community, recommends Library policies and procedures for all areas that comply with general University policies. Ensures documentation is complete and up to date. Administers student work study programs. Other work related duties as assigned by the Director. Qualifications: Masters Degree in Library or Information Science. 5 years progressive management experience in an Academic library. Proven supervisory experience. Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in Library Science concepts and current techniques. Understanding of ACRL best practices and Information Literacy competencies. Experience with academic accreditation standards requirements process. Experienced in curriculum design. Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite, online Library systems that support Reference, Technical and Access services. Blackboard, Smartboard skills desirable. Excellent communication skills, including speaking to groups. Demonstrated ability to work in teams, flexible and able to acquire new skills.
