Reference & Instruction Librarian, Evenings and Weekends - University of Bridgeport. Summary: This Librarian will work as part of a team of Reference & Instruction librarians to provide reference and instruction services within a learning commons model of service. He/she will participate in the development and delivery of embedded and course related information literacy instruction. Duties include provision of innovative reference and research services to students and faculty, working with faculty to develop curriculum content, rubrics and assessment tools, teaching information literacy skills, collection development, and designing web-based tutorials. Reference services support a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including distance learning, accelerated, Schools of Naturopathic Medicine and Chiropractic. Library embraces evidence based approach to information literacy and reference practice. Major Duties And Responsibilities: Answers reference questions in-person, by telephone and online. Working under guidance of Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian, provides individualized and group instruction on the use of library resources, including specialized databases and other online resources. Helps develops instructional materials, including website content and online tutorials. Develops instructional assessment tools. Assists in Collection Development. Instructs faculty in use of Evidence Based Practice methodology and tools. Collaborates with faculty on collection needs. Other Duties as assigned by Supervisor. Minimum Requirements: MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program. Undergraduate degree in science, engineering or computer science preferred but not mandatory. This is entry level position. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Coursework and demonstrated basic Search skills, Microsoft Office abilities. Ability to communicate and work with diverse populations. Enthusiastic, flexible, open to acquiring new concepts and skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and faculty.
