Reference and Instruction Librarian - Fairfield University Library
(Two-Year Appointment). Academic library invites applications from
creative, flexible, self-motivated librarians with strong public
services commitment and a vision and enthusiasm for the future of
electronic technologies to join collegial team. The successful candidate
will be hired at the Librarian I level. This position is a two-year
appointment. The position may include some evening and weekend hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Plays a key role in the library instruction program.
Creates and maintains web-based and print instructional resources.
Provides reference services. Participates in the Library Liaison
program. REQUIREMENTS: MLS from ALA accredited program. Recent
experience or course work in reference. Evidence of potential in
teaching. Must be self-directed, well organized, and able to meet
deadlines and multiple demands. Demonstrated ability to communicate,
both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences. Inventive
approach to the development of new services; commitment to responsive
and innovative service is essential. Highly Desirable: Teaching
experience using active learning techniques; demonstrated competence in
using web-based tools and software in the creative design and delivery
of instruction are highly desirable. Science background; demonstrated
