Director - Katharine Brush Library, Loomis Chaffee School
Director - Loomis Chaffee School is seeking an innovative and energetic person for the position of Director of the Katharine Brush Library, to begin in the fall of 2011. The new Director will bring his or her vision to the work of the library and to the ongoing work of integrating new technologies into the academic life of the school. Fostering an open and collaborative learning environment in keeping with the school’s goals, the Director sets the tone that maintains our library’s position at the heart of this rigorous and vibrant educational community. The successful applicant will be an excellent manager with a demonstrated record of innovation and accomplishment in a library setting. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the library, the Director will be responsible for programs designed to support classroom teachers and students, for procurement and management of a variety of resources dedicated to teaching and learning on campus, and for promoting and supporting the mission of the library. Primary responsibilities include the following: Hire, train and oversee a staff of professionals dedicated to promulgating library goals; Manage an operating budget of $75,000; Set priorities for procurement of resources and oversee the updating of materials and databases; Initiate programs and services in support of classroom projects and individual teacher and student research needs. Qualifications: An MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, demonstrated leadership in academic library services and excellent management skills are required.
