Windows System Administrator - (Operating Systems Programmer/Analyst II - UCP 7) University of Connecticut Libraries, Storrs Campus. Search #2011266. Position Summary: The incumbent provides hardware, operating system, and application level deployment and support for the Libraries Windows servers. Working with other ITS and library staff, this individual supports server deployment and use in a busy library setting. Duties include: planning, provisioning, securing and maintaining Windows servers, including Active Directory, Exchange, File, Print, and other application servers. The incumbent also manages the Libraries VMware ESX/vSphere servers and virtual infrastructure. The incumbent provides backup and recovery services, as well as contingency planning for all Windows servers. The incumbent also manages Microsoft SQL and SharePoint servers. The individual manages Windows-based applications, including IIS, Exchange, Windows Server Update Services, File Share Resource Management, and other applications. Programming tasks may consist of using OS specific system call, ANSI compatible APIs, and use of open source tools, vendor supplied tools, or other third party tools. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; 2 to 3 year of Windows system administration experience; experience administering Active Directory; experience with virtualization technology (VMware, Microsoft, or Xen); and demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to develop and lead complex projects successfully; experience administering Exchange; demonstrated experience administering Microsoft IIS; demonstrated experience administering Microsoft SharePoint; demonstrated working knowledge of Internet networking including TCP/IP, subnetting, vlan and routing protocols; demonstrated experience with Windows-Linux integration technologies (ex. Samba); and demonstrated experience with Network Attached Storage. Appointment Terms: This is a full-time, permanent position including full benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
