Cataloging Coordinator - Allen Music Library, University of Hartford. Position Summary: Performs general and basic cataloging and processing functions for the Allen Memorial Library. This position supervises the student employees. This is a regular position that may include evening and weekend hours. Key Responsibilities: Trains and oversees students on proper cataloging procedures and processing of materials. Provides supervision to student staff performing all cataloging and processing functions. Reviews and approves the work of all student employees for copy cataloging and processing functions. Performs original and copy cataloging. Oversees the processing of Hartt recordings. Assists in the maintenance of local authority records to assure the quality and integrity of the library database. Establishes and maintains administrative control over cataloging records and documents detailing intellectual content. Organizes and arranges materials to facilitate access for patrons and library staff. Adheres to local and national standards for copy cataloging of materials in various formats. Keeps abreast of national cataloging policies. Receives, prepares and processes materials for binding. Maintains supply inventory. Trains and oversees student staff in the repair of library materials. Collects and maintains relevant statistics including monthly and annual cataloging, processing, and binding figures. Provides statistical information to appropriate parties including the Head of Allen Library to be used for ad hoc and annual reports. Provides quality customer service in person and by telephone, answering inquiries pertaining to library materials as necessary and appropriate. Participates in campus, local and area professional development seminars and training, attends committee and staff meetings as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned. Formal Education: Bachelor's Degree in music required. Work Experience: 0 to less than 1 year. Special Skills - The ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
