Middle School Librarian/Media Specialist - The Brunswick School, Greenwich
Middle School Librarian/Media Specialist - The Brunswick School is looking for a Middle School Librarian to work full time beginning August 2008. We are a school for boys and have a beautiful campus and state-of-the-art library just for Middle School. This position contributes to the library program by teaching the middle school students (gr.5-8), developing the collection, and managing non-print resources. Principal duties: 1. Teaching and Collaborating with teachers --teaches fifth grade classes in library four times per week. --teaches middle school students research skills as assignments are given, and students and teachers visit the library. --teaches faculty and staff how to use online services --identifies areas of the curriculum where research needs to be taught --teaches adults and students how to use audio-visual equipment as needed --collaborate with other divisions to continue to develop curriculum to encompass PreK-12 library skills. 2. Developing the Collection --selects and purchases books to support curriculum and reading interests of middle school boys --purchases research books for projects assigned in middle grades --purchases online database subscription services --manages budget for all of the above. 3. Website Manager --The library website will be managed and updated by the librarian, with input from the other librarians and in coordination with the communications director, including maintaining and updating the summer reading lists. The person we are looking for will be a self starter, with lots of energy. She/He will be interested in literature and reading, enjoy working with children and have skills in technology; ideally circulation systems and database programs. She/He will keep abreast of newly evolving technology and information services.
