Library Director - Stonington Free Library

Library Director - Stonington Free Library, Stonington, Connecticut's public library, is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Director of an active community library. The Library (www.stoningtonfreelibrary.org) is an historic building located in a seaside village and serves a population of ∼18,000 people. A well-tended collection of 40,000 volumes is maintained, and very active literary and literacy-based programs for children and adults are provided, including outreach programs to local schools. The Director must be qualified to administer an annual budget of approximately $315,000, to oversee a dedicated staff of two full-time and eight part-time employees, and to report to a supportive and active Board of Trustees on a regular basis. This full-time position is for an individual who enjoys interacting with patrons and the community. QUALIFICATIONS. The position of Director is a highly responsible administrative position involving the direction of a broad range of public library functions. Responsibilities include the management of a public library collection; provision of library services to patrons and community organizations; making policy recommendations; proficiency with technology; budget preparation; grant writing; and building management. It is preferred that the successful candidate has an MLS, at least three years of administrative experience, and at least five years of professional public library experience. Salary range is $48,000 - $55,000. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, and health-care.
