The Director of Library Services
administers all library
resources and
services in support of academic
programs, faculty
teaching, and student learning.
The Director manages
the library staff and collaborates with faculty, college administration and staff to support
the college mission,
goals and strategic plan. The salary for this position will
depend on qualifications, education, and
experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Direct library operations. Manage professional and support staff. Continually align resources and service to meet student,
faculty and
staff needs. Develop policy and procedures that
support the College's
educational goals. Manage the library's space, physical collections, electronic resources
including DigitalCommons, and
special collections. Implement technology and library systems. Provide financial oversight and maintain vendor relationships. Represent the college in professional
associations (e.g., Council of Connecticut
Academic Library
Directors). Key
Skills, Education and Work Experience
Requirements: Masters in Library or
Information Science required, additional graduate degree
in an academic discipline
desirable.
Leadership experience
in an academic library. Experience
developing and implementing strategic or project
plans. Expertise using technology and
library systems. Strong commitment to education at the undergraduate and graduate
level.
A record of service in professional library associations.
Knowledge of library new directions, best practices
and technologies. Experience assessing the quality and
effectiveness of library
programs and
services.
Prepare library
annual report, annual IPED's report
and other documentation required
by accreditors.
A
collaborative management style.
Commitment to fostering
