Teen Services Internship - Fairfield Woods Library,
Fairfield, CT. Fairfield Woods Library seeks a creative, self-motivated
library student to work during after-school hours in the downUNDER, a
unique space dedicated to our teen population. Next door to a middle
school, the downUNDER is a Teen Center that serves up to 30 young people
per day. Working closely with professional librarians, this Internship
will provide the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to work
in a highly-trafficked teen-centered environment, and the opportunity to
learn about the operations of our popular and innovative teen
department. Fairfield Woods Library is the busiest branch library in
Connecticut and has an active neighborhood patronage. The ideal
candidate for this internship would be a current library science student
with an active interest in teen librarianship, including young adult
literature, trends and programming. This intern must be able to connect
well with teens, be comfortable with social media, be familiar with
portable devices and have the ability and enthusiasm to develop programs
using them. The candidate must take initiative, be flexible and be able
to work creatively and independently. Internship hours are Monday –
Wednesday from 2pm-5pm, with the opportunity for more hours working on
special projects. Position begins December 1st and ends March 4th.
Salary is $18.33 an hour. Application packet: Current resume, and
