Children’s Programming Assistant - The Brookfield Library.
Part-Time (25 hours/week). Starting rate $18/hour. Position available
10/20/14. Under the direction of the Children’s and Community Services
Librarian, plans, organizes and conducts library programs for preschool
and school-aged children. Responsible for one or more of the following:
story times, book discussion groups, drama clubs, bedtime story hours,
arts & crafts programs, sing-a-long programs, parent/child book
discussions, after school programs, summer reading programs, etc.
Manages summer reading volunteers. Makes arrangements for programs and
creates all publicity and flyers. May select children’s movies for the
collection, and arranges screening of movies for children. Limited
weekly hours working the Checkout Desk. Requires ability to work well
with children, staff, and the public. Current knowledge of personal
computers; experience in Microsoft Word and/or Publisher, and Excel.
Must be available five hours/day to meet the needs of the library’s
programming schedule; some flexibility possible. Occasional evenings
and weekends are required. B.A. and equivalent of 2 years of
