Children's Library Specialist - West Hartford Public Library

Children's Library Specialist - West Hartford Public Library seeks an enthusiastic part-time Children’s Library Specialist to plan and conduct storytime programs that include music and movement, puppetry and crafts, participate in a Summer Reading Skit, offer Book Clubs and programs for school-age children. We are looking for someone with an extensive knowledge of children’s literature, a background in programming in a library or educational setting, an understanding of child development and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. The Specialist works with a dedicated Children’s Services team in a very busy library. She/he must be flexible and possess a good sense of humor, provide exceptional public service and have solid organizational skills. She/he must enjoy working and interacting with children from birth through fifth grade and their parents. Hours needed:  Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30 am – 1 pm, plus Wed. until 5 pm. Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in education or related field: experience in a library or educational setting. Preferred: Masters in Library Science; speaking fluency in a language other than English that is used in the local community. Training in the Mother Goose on the Loose Early Literacy Program is a plus. Minimum hourly salary: $26.10.
